Johnny Rivers - It'll Never Happen Again Lyrics
I remember
Our first affair
All the pain
Always rain
Around my eyes
It'll never happen again
Every time
I leave you alone
I remember times
I couldn't come home
It'll never happen again
It'll never happen again
Why can't you be
I want you to be
Why can't you see
You've got to change
And love me
I remember
Our first affair
All the pain
Always rain
Around my eyes
It'll never happen again
It'll never happen again

FIRST TIME I HEARD THIS SONG A VERY PRETTY SONG
SOMEONE HAS EDITED ALL OF THESE VERSIONS ! ------------THEY ARE FAKE!!-----------NOT THE ORIGINAL VERSION AT ALL. -------------------------------WolfSky9
" Rewind " ! --------- " Realization " --------& " Changes " -----------as well as ' "Johnny's Gold " ---------------All through those sad, heartbreaking years of the late 60's, Johnny & his music was MY music,------------well, actually-----------OUR music. ---------------The music of Tami.--------------Tami & I -----------------& the years & tears. -------And, any time I " deep-dive" back to Tami, it's always Johnny's music. -----------Always, 1st. --------RIP, to Marty Paich, the man who arranged / orchestrated, & produced Johnny's music in those years. He was a pro's pro. -------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
When I bought this album----------it was ALL i listened to, for at least 6 months. ----------and at this song, I'd choke-up ----------ever time. Her name, was Tami. -----------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
RIP, to Marty Paich, for his gorgeous arrangement / production. -------WolfSky9
I think the original by Tim Hardin was better but this is OK. I think Tim had a stronger voice.
Johnny always sang from the heart, while he was breaking yours.
Izzy love's rock 🎸 💘 Enjoy 1966.
This is beautiful and very smooth ❤️ thank you for posting
my favorite album of all.
All-time heart breaker. ----------Tim could only have composed this, from real life----there's just no other way. ------------------WolfSky9
I really--REALLY do often wonder how Karen & Richard Carpenter could have----would have ----done this JR Masterpiece. --------------------WolfSky9
A Masterpiece by Johnny, & arranger, Marty Paich. --------------WolfSky9, 71 y/o
I used to play this album every night while I was 19 at my parents house. Great memories!
I remember back in the old days I used to listen to this album every night while living with my parents. I was 19 & this was the most important album I ever heard!
LOVE THIS*
Johnny sounds like Dino Valenti
Bought this album in high school. Used to go to sleep at night listening to it. One of the best ever recorded.
Gary Mattox Same here Gary!
This was a great album that is extremely underrated. I got the album while I was in High School in the late 60s and nearly wore it out. It is one of the best of that era.
If Tim Hardin , with his early death- I wonder if he had some unfinished songs- my thought is nobody could honor those songs like JR-- THis song is amzing with both men- the finish with those 1970's angelic back-ups ---Go Johnny
Johnny has away of a hurting his voice . You feel it. In. His love songs.
Take the whole universe of male singers: Who dare take on a tim hardin classic and at the end they stare as equals at each other. That is what blew Bob Dylan;s mind.
Probably About the Greatest Album ever to come Out of The 1960,s.
and the greatest writer.. Jimmy Webb
I was 13 when my dad gave me this album for my birthday. I played it every chance I got. it's still one of the best albums ever recorded. just brings back so many memories.
Just one more obvious JR is king. Go back, listen to his back-up "chicks" -that girl had to be one of the back-ups- she feels right to the end
Johnny Rivers. Had this LP in Jr. High...made me cry like a baby. THIS track. Waaah. This voice. This VOICE. xoxo P
Ms Lombard : I agree, completely. ------Still affects me, to this very day. ---------------------WolfSky9, 73 y/o
para mi gsto uno de los mejores albunes del querido y amado jhonny por todos los de mi generacion.
Johnny always rips my heart out, so soulful and full of feeling. One of the true greats
You know Tim Hardin was a national treasure the way he interpreted his songs. BUT, and when you see BUT, you pay attention- He had nothing on Johnie. The pain is equal in each,
I just go all soft inside when I hear Johnny Rivers' voice . I am too old to be like this but that voice of his is pure Magic! If you add the guitar that he can practically make talk , & I can listen to him for hours & not even realize it ! 🎸🎸🎶🎶👏👏👏.
+Donna Castel You are so right Donna. I've been a Rivers fan since the 60s and I never get enough of his voice.
+Donna Castel you can never be too old to love Johnny. I have loved him since I was 5 years old
+Cathi Hixson Pominski I was 9 !! Still think there is no one like him. My Proto type of the perfect man!
I must have played this album 1000 times, all through college, & always with memories of a girl named Tami. What a gorgeous, sad song. Wolfsky9, 68 y/o Now
@Wolfsky9 i played the Tim Hardin stuff- when he takes garfinkle or the very great Tim Hardin some how through little musical surprises and that voice of his - what can you say - with the back-up girls. thank you utube.
Would have really, really liked to hear what Dusty Springfield could have done with this song.
This, along with Poor Side of Town, led a young 16 year old into the happiest times of his life. Yes I was that boy and met my first true love. As I listen to this, those memories come back sweeter than ever.
Back in time indeed, summer of 68 when I learned just how much true love can hurt when they leave.......we listened to this album on Saturday afternoons and danced the day away.
every time I listen to Johnny singing this tune, it always takes me back in time - beautiful song, amazing artist -
Check out Cilla Black's version. It bests this one!
New movie coming out in 2013 about father & son, Tim & Jeff Buckley.
Stunning track from a wonderful album. That's the late great Larry Knechtel on piano. Timeless music.
Or "oh Knectel is booked"? Well I heard Leon Russel is in town- but what does he know.
Rewind was your best LP
completely heartwrenching, just so beautiful, and so very sad, if i can keep the tears outta my eyes long enough to write this
this song brings back great memories of listening to this whole album back in the early seventies.Great album every song excellent . wore it out originally and am loving listening to it again
My, Johnny is smooth - what a sultry voice, love this tune!
My husband and I are fighting over all the JR albums in our divorce. We've listened to them together for 30 years. I really want them but they will make me sad and make me miss him too much. Thanks for the great memories, Johnny.
Agree w/the postings,Such a Rich Voice Johnny R. Would love to see him perform. I was 9 yrs. old in '1970 I babysat a whole wknd. For this of many times & Lp's got them all still to this day. The sad thing is I''m 50 & not the generation of my Kids or anyone is going to listen let alone not knowing what a Treasure of pleasure someone could have but don't see or hear it that way.
Incredible magic from a criminally underrated singer-songwriter. Love Marty Paich's orchestration on this Tim Hardin song. Lou Adler is also so overlooked as a great producer, he helped create this unique album. This sounds like it was recorded yesterday, timeless. Is that Bud Shank on the flute?
All this AND backing vocals by The Blossoms featuring Darlene Love!
