Johnny Mathis - Misty Roses Lyrics

Look at me
I'm as helpless as a kitten up a tree
And I feel like I'm clinging to a cloud
I can't understand
I get misty, just holding your hand

Walk my way
And a thousand violins begin to play
Or it might be the sound of your hello
That music I hear
I get misty the moment you're near

You can say that you're leading me on
But it's just what I want you to do
Don't you notice how hopelessly I'm lost
That's why I'm following you

On my own
Would I wander through this wonderland alone
Never knowing my right foot from my left
My hat from my glove
I'm too misty and too much in love
(repeat after music interlude)

Look at me

I like Sonny Bono's version, too. Just a great song from a talented composer.

Try listening to Jess Roden's version

Good God.........I don't think so. She's like white bread.......no timbre in her voice. No real substance.

Just stumbled onto this video and remember that it was my favorite Mathis song in 1971. I too had a love I called my misty rose. She literally looked too soft to touch but too lovely not to try. Try as I did, I lost her to another. This song recalls my deep love for her that lasts even to this day. Her eyes were mesmerizing, and melted my butter when I looked into them. The wife I now have was a gift from God and I can die content having finally loved and been loved. Say hi to MISTY ROSE for me.

I love both versions actually. Each artist brings their own something to it. As a singer, I like to hear how everyone does a song.

@mrmoralsandvalues: If you think that no one can touch Astrud's version of this song, then check out Colin Blunstone's interpretation here on YT....

Great to find a Mathis fan out there Conyelp. This guy is beyond talented and this song definitely captures the soft , dreamy ability of this incredibly gifted man. Do you have access to "Drifting" or "I thought of you last night"?
