Johnny Cash - In Them Old Cottonfields Back Home Lyrics

When I was a little bitty baby my mama would rock me in my cradle
In them old cottonfields back home
When I was a little bitty baby...
Now when them cotton bolls get rotten you can't pick very much cotton
In them old cottonfields back home
It was down in Louisiana just about a mile from Texarkana
In them old cottonfields back home

When I was a little bitty baby...
When I was a little bitty baby...
In them old cottonfields back home in them old cottonfields back home

    S.... M....

The Anita Kerr Singers sang with him on other sessions - like The Rebel Johnny Yuma and The Ballad Of Boot Hill, but not this one.

this is an old folk song

    T.... ....

@Help me reach 1k subs with no videos! yes, but Johnny Cash did grow up on a cotton farm in Arkansas so it gives it a little more meaning when he sings it.

  52. A.... O....

Goddamn I am glad that we have the NLRB and the 1964 Civil Rights Act among other legal protections!

And in the words of Mr. Cash himself,
    "God bless Robert E. Lee".

  54. J.... L....

I love this version but I also was so impressed with the "Playing for Change" movement.  It is a multimedia movement with a mobile record studio to duo record with local musicians throughout the world.  They do great renditions of many great songs such as Down by the  Riverside, Raggae Got Soul, Stand by Me...etc...check it out.

    J.... L....

Janice Lemieux Hell Yeah I love Playing for Change, I've seen some of the people in New Orleans.

  55. R.... F....

He can't hit those high notes but that don't mean he's a bad singer. Those low notes he's singing makes the song.

  56. t.... ....

Just change keys if it's boring.

    t.... ....

the5chord makes for an interesting song lol

  57. M.... F....

    A.... F....

@***** Leadbelly signs the song , but i'm sure that song is older than him.

  63. r.... ....

  80. R.... M....

    i thi9nk ccr does a better job.

  81. C.... ....

    Good stuff

  82. J.... ....

@ThePotPersona Thats interesting. I imagine more than one family lived in there..

  83. J.... ....

@ThePotPersona The fact that they had the title "slave" in fact means they were treated poorly. Even if want you say is true (it's not) , the slaves went unpaid, lived in shanty huts, were barely fed, and had no rights. But anyway i imagine by your name and profile page that you're pro legalization of marijuanna and so am i so let's agree to disagree on slavery.

  84. S.... P....

@jumpsmcgee No. I am just stating that you, sir, are, in fact, a Faggot.

  85. J.... ....

@corleanofmaiev Are you saying i live in Harlem? And if u do you research most parts of Harlem have high priced housing markets. Harlem is no longer the poor area it used to be

  86. S.... P....

@jumpsmcgee I didn't know they had the money to even get internet in Harlem.

  87. S.... P....

@jumpsmcgee Dude, Really. I am a Hillbilly, yet I have a master's degree in Architecture.

  88. r.... ....

@BEARARMZ He liked white and black prisoners equally.

  89. L.... M....

@collin863 Your parents are relatives aren't they? I mean they must be, you've got a clear mental deficiency...

  90. j.... ....

If this song don't make you smile then nuthin will.

  91. J.... ....

@bestshaman1 Not at all. Slaves lived in a low standard of living because they were forced to. They worked hard and were treated like shit. Hillbillies are just lazy, uneducated, and ignorant.

  92. J.... ....

@bestshaman1 i didnt think they had internet connection in run down sheds thaat u hillbillies live in

  93. J.... ....

    @bestshaman1 ur just plain ignorant

  94. F.... B....

I dream of one world...:) A White one..:) I love you to

  95. S.... A....

    @bestshaman1
I'm not going to lecture you. I'm sure you have experienced something horrible that made you feel that way, I can only hope that I'n time you get to experience things that will let you feel otherwise.

In the mean time, know that I love you!

  96. L.... S....

@DavidofThe johnny cash chased my wife!

  97. S.... ....

@bestshaman1 Even if that's true, that's still no excuse for being racist yourself.
