I spent a year in Korea in the 70's. It was lonely and letters from home were like gold. It was the highlight of the day. People today have no idea. I just talked to one of old exchange students in China and Ukraine. In 72 it cost $5 for a 3 min. phone call and it had to be relayed by ham radio. I only made $136 every 2 weeks. Today you can send a text ot anyone, anywhere in the world in real time.

It's crazy how far things have come in the past 20 years or even 10 years ago. I got to watch my kiddos open Christmas presents from 7500 miles away. I get to see the one I won't get to meet in person until she's 9 months old but I see her every day.

I would get care packages from when I was deployed.they really made my day..... anybody reading this that has a loved one overseas on deployment...make sure you send care packages.......they are so important for us to get....it's keeps our morale up and makes it so much easier.
