John Martyn - Angeline Lyrics

Oh Angeline, did you hear me singing
Singing for love in the heat of the night
Oh Angeline, did you hear me singing
And crying your name in the hot spotlight

It really don't matter, if you leave in the morning
It really don't matter, if you never come home
It really don't matter, if you take to another
It really don't matter, if you leave me alone

Angeline, did you hear I've been drinking
Oh Angeline, did you hear how I cried
Angeline, tell me what were you thinking
When you saw me playing in the cold moonlight

It really don't matter, if you leave in the morning
It really won't matter, if you never come home
It really won't matter, if you take to another
It really won't matter, if you leave me alone
It's only love, sweet love
It's only love, sweet love

Oh Angeline, will you always be near me?
Angeline, will you always wear white?
Angeline, I don't want to be lonely
Oh Angeline, please stay here tonight

Angeline, with your taste for trouble
Angeline, with your hair shining bright
Angeline, with your talk about struggle
Angeline, please stay here tonight

It really won't matter, if you leave in the morning
It really won't matter, if you never come home
It really won't matter, if you take to another
It really won't matter, if you leave me alone
It's only love, sweet love
It's only love, sweet love

Saw him in Manchester not long before he died. He was sublime. He moved gently from folk to jazz. A shining talent. Beautiful track. Sadly missed.

the very brilliantJohn Martyn had his faults yet he was Gods chosen angle when he played his songs on this earth, this man was and still is dearly loved by both men and women. he was a poet of the very his order. Nobody knows the inner hell he may have had to deal with during his life, I bet that he is still having a great time now playing his gigs down in Kingdom Hall which is situated on the right side of the main, a few miles inside the golden gates

"God's chosen angle" ? Do you mean angel? And another thing, yes, his mother was jewish, making him in jewish law one of God's Chosen people. He NEVER affiliated to that dire-tribe that rule the Gentile world. In fact, his record label, Island Records was owned by one of "God's Chosen" - it was they who kept him shackled. He worked his arse off his entire life and got relatively nowhere.

As for his "inner hell" why not go and read his biographies?

"Kingdom Hall"- what a pathetic brainwashed statement to make.

There was nothing Abrahamic about the genius of John Martyn....
