I think JMM looks totally cool a true worshiper and artist. I loved it!

I met him in person and yes, he glowed with the Holy Spirit. I was blessed for days after a hug from him.   He honestly talks about his struggles with his own emotions or "demons," how hard it can be to live in this earthly world and still  maintain a daily personal connection with God. But that doesn't mean he doesn't have the Spirit within him, like many of us.

We're all worshippers and all have the same Holy Spirit within us!

That part at 2:41 is so great - just love it.

I also have a problem with "Friday a thief." Jesus was not a thief, nor was he accused of being a thief. Pilate said "I find no fault with this man." He hung with two thieves.

thats not the context. he described it how people saw him. on friday people saw him as a thief. he wasnt tho

I really love this song, but I'm a little iffy on the lyrical wording "He has cheated hell" - Jesus didn't cheat anything, He defeated it. He won fair and square, He didn't barely wing it- He overwhelmed the enemy. I think cheating hell makes it sound more like He escaped. Death, sin and hell are enemies and Jesus triumphed over these things.

Personally I see this as the best line of the song. Because I see it as hell is owed us for our sin. But Jesus cheated hell out of what technically rightfully belongs to it. As sinners hell deserves us, but Jesus took that away from it and gave us a way to him.
May not be right, just my humble opinion

I agree...although I don't find issue with that lyric...I think from the devil's point of view, he might consider that Christ cheated him...but then again the devil tried to steal what wasn't his to begin with.

Revisiting this comment after a couple years from my original post. Here are my thoughts now:
1. I still love this song, I get what the meaning is conveying and I'm moved in worship.
2. JMM is an incredible songwriter, however, some of his illustrations are mixed with figures of speech that can cause a little bit of confusion.

3. HOWEVER, If you look up the definition of "cheated" - the two most common meanings are: *to act dishonestly or unfairly in order to gain an advantage* as well as *avoiding something undesirable by luck or skill*

None of the definitions attributed to the word "cheat(ed)" should be used to describe the personhood of Jesus Christ.

Bryce O'Connor just wanted to say that in Pilots journal, he mentioned that Jesus died abnormally fast. People would hang up on the cross for days before bleeding out. When Jesus said “it is finished” he gave his own life. He fulfilled the ultimate sacrifice and had finished what he came to do. Dont have the exact sources but have been listening to John MacArthur sermons. He’s a doctrinal pastor that uses other sources to prove the Bible’s truths.
