John, Elton - This Town Lyrics
It's closing time the boys are all together at the bar
Staring in their glasses
Looks like another layoff at the yard
Yesterday I heard union hall come down
And they try but nothing changes in this town
Cap in hand stood in line
Your family ties are the chains that bind
The endless wheel goes round and round
Chances are you'll never leave this town
Oh oh no
Like a river now the empty streets are flooded out with rain
It's falling on the playground
Locked away so many things remind them of war
They tap the pavement with their canes
The good old days ain't so good no more

I've always loved this sing. Great opening for a much-underrated set of music.
And, that's Sister Sledge harmonizing.
Was a great song to open Ice on Fire to. I always loved the "driving" frenzy of this song. Can listen on repeat for hours.
I have always Nikita listen to this album, I realized this song maybe 30 years later. At least until Nikita nice. Tempo never fell.
80s disco all the way, and I'm not complaining one bit! <3
I personally am in LOVE with the keyboards.
Eita musicaço!
Uhhh - all those famous 80's Yamaha DX-7 sounds :-) all in one song :-)
I love it. It's one of my favorite and the best songs.
One of my favorite EJ songs
those keyboards sound like a grumbling stomach. Yeah, not his best effort. Pass
@Frankincensed It was the sound of the 80's.
+Frankincensed I even know what keyboard that is. Its a Yamaha DX7.
The effect of those keyboard sounds was the whole idea of producing it!! Especially for that time - the beginning of digital recordings - I'm sure it was exciting to produce so many new sounds!! I'm sorry the grumbling displeases you. Listen to the song as a whole - the melody - the energy - the background instruments and vocals - everything! It's so much fun to listen to!
Frankincensed Lol. Best part of the song to me.
yeah doesnt really compare to his earlier genius-level musicianship
Please look intomy original compositions on my channel- I'd be glad to hear your thoughts on my music! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fe4_iVrk7VM
Thank you! :)
Now, that was *BAD* alright!
Special compliments of: *Sister Sledge* (backing vocals)
em, em, em, "DAMN!"

It's closing time the boys are all together at the bar
Staring in their glasses
Looks like another layoff at the yard
Yesterday I heard union hall come down
They hit it with a wrecking ball
And they try but nothing changes in this town
Cap in hand stood in line
Your family ties are the chains that bind
The endless wheel goes round and round
Chances are you'll never leave this town
Oh oh no!
