John, Elton - Burning Buildings Lyrics
It used to be a sweet sensation
No price too high for love
Now I pay for this bitter taste
And the price is not enough
Such hard knocks on my heart
How long before the pain ends
Tell me where living starts
And lovers leap off burning buildings
Waking up on a sky high wire
Desperation leaves us clinging
On the edge of a house on fire
Lovers leap off burning buildings
Every flame that ever moved you
Touched your lips but never mine
Lovers leap off burning buildings
No room for conversation
Cold stares and angry words
Fall in pieces from our faces
We read "do not disturb"
Some lovers just go hungry
Others beg for just a bite
You use me under pressure
To whet your appetite

LOVE THIS ALBULM its FANTASTIC 10/10
Love it, love it, love it! Thank you
Love this song . One of my favourites by Elton .
Just bought this vinyl yesterday from a local record store.
Only Elton John can give us songs like this !!! Beautiful song !!!!
A lot of people will say that Elton's best songs were in the early 70s, but I contend that the quality of his songs in the 80s were just as good as they were in the 70s. So many good songs off this album.
@James Noble while we're on Ice on Fore, can't forget about Nikita. Also, 21 at 33 was a great album, too.
@Matthew Skidmore I disagree. 21 was mediocrity and Elton on autopilot. It had a couple nice songs ...I always loved Steve Lukathur's lead guitar work in Chasing The Crown...and Never Gonna Fall In Love Again is one of my personal favorites. But overall its nowhere close to what I'd call a "great" album or a good artistic statement. Part of it is the uneven songwriting, the other is the flat empty sounding production. Same issue I had with A Single Man. That album sounded so sterile and cold compared to his classic era Gus Dungeon produced albums
I think the only thing is that in his early albums ,EVERY track was a hit, but in the 80s only a couple of tracks off each album were memorable. But those tracks that did stand out were frigging epic. Sartorial Eloquence and Burning Buildings are my 2 most favorite songs. Shame I'll probably never get to see them performed live :(
THIS IS 10/10 MY FAV IS EMPTY SHY 9/10 or 10/10 sometimes i doint care for empty sky 6 mins, THE FOX 9/10 i dont like heart in the right place and reg strikes back 9/10 i dont like mona lisa II but THIS album is 10/10!!
Love this!
he will always b the BEST
Probably the best ballad on the album.
I really like that song, has Elton ever performed it live?
I don't think so.
Thanks for your reply, it's sad cause it's a very nice song and there is still his falsetto.
what a wonderful song from a wonderful album
