John, Elton - Boogie Pilgrim Lyrics

Crime in the streets
I read about it everyday in the papers
Justice needs and justice wants
But just in times, yes, too late here
Feels like I wasn't born there
I feel just like a Boogie Pilgrim
Boogie Pilgrim
Hustled to get it
To get it together
Down on the jive talk
Down on the weather
Boogie Pilgrim
Brother I never felt better
No, I never felt better

Low life's complete
When you've lived that way out on the sidewalk
(Walking on the sidewalk everyday)
I got the speed if you got the need
But the need in me needs nothing
(But you know that I need nothing)
But I know that you all want something
Just like Boogie Pilgrim

Blue Moves is a seriously underrated album. One of my new favs!

  3. S.... B....

Me encuero en una pista de baile antes que me pudra.

  4. P.... &....

It's not a great song but what a suberb vocal, what an amazing band and what a slick production!

Lovin' the Brecker Brothers on this tune! Tight!

Though the lyrics are nonsensical, they serve as the starting point for the funk to follow. Free your mind and your ass will follow indeed! (with apologies to Funkadelic)

  11. I.... A....

You know this reminds me a bit of Little Feat (with Lowell George)
Been an EJ fan since Jr high in '73

Just listened to this for the first time in 20(?) years and I was thinking exactly the same thing before I saw your post!

this is when he wasnt too much up his own ass and anyone elses ,exellent track from an overlooked album

    j.... h....

    @jim hutchison Um, well put.

  13. R.... P....

This is by far my favourite Elton song, can't help but sing and move to it

  14. N.... ....

I always thought of this as one of the "filler" tracks in Blue Moves. The back-up band is better than the song. I imagine that the record company asked Elton to write a song with "Boogie" in the title. Think of "Boogie Child", "Boogie on Reggae Woman", even "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy".

Blue Moves was a fascinating album. Elton's new album The Union, with Leon Russell, is superb, and set to chart higher in the US than any since Blue Moves.

He Still Is A God In 2010, after all the songs written and talent he has been born with he will go down in music history as-The Greatest Melody Writer Ever In Popular Music-Few musical artist will achieve what he has if ever, and he still is not finished!!!-going on 40 years strong
