John Denver - Whose Garden Was This? Lyrics
Whose garden was this? It must have been lovely. Did it have flowers?
I've seen pictures of flowers, and I'd love to have smelled one.
Whose river was this? You say it ran freely. Blue was it's color.
I've seen blue in some pictures, and I'd love to have been there.
The oceans were blue and birds really flew. Can you swear that it's true?
Whose gray sky was this? Or was it a blue one? You say there were breezes.
I've heard records of breezes and I'd love to have felt one.
Tell me again I need to know. The forest had trees, the meadows were green.
The oceans were blue and birds really flew. Can you swear that it's true?
Whose garden was this? It must have been lovely. Did it have flowers?
I've seen pictures of flowers, and I'd love to have smelled one.
Tell me again I need to know, tell me again I need to know.

Grand Solar Minimum. ....study up.
Reminder that capitalism is the name of the human force that destroys the environment currently in the real world, ok peace 🐱
This song is great. Make sure you answer your calling to know Jesus Christ, who removed the barrier between God & man, so that whosoever believes on/ receives Him (Jesus) as their savior, SHALL receive eternal life, which can ONLY be given by God, who gives it freely to "whosoever believes on Jesus for eternal life & salvation".
There is no destruction in our Creator's paradise, and no more suffering or bloodshed or anguish. But, He DOES insist that everyone, who shall enter therein, must desire to be with their Creator in His New Kingdom forever. Eternity is much too long to spend it with those who gnaw & hate.

I was able to meet the writer of this great song, the legendary singer-songwriter Tom Paxton, at a memorial concert for John 🥰 !
Beautiful :-)
Wow. Just wow
A BLUE breeze baby.
I think he was doing acid when he wrote this one.
Sharon Straughan Idiot,, that's good music!
Don’t be stupid course not!
OMG, So Beautiful, but then John only does the best.. the world lost a truly Great singer..
I had this album in the 70s until my baby boy decided to have a little play with the turntable whilst it was playing. Love this album. So I will never forget John Denver. Beautiful voice.

we (humans) make me so damned sad ..
I sincerely hope my trip isn't too much longer.. and that this planet is able to recover from "Our" collective poisonning...
So very sad that we Never did deserve such a paradise.
It will.... just as soon as we're gone. And who would miss us, once gone?
Memories both good and bad
Best version was sung by Mel Torme .
I don't know - I heard it on the radio a number of times and saw/heard him sing it on a TV show but it was long ago.
Nope. It was the title track to his third album, released in 1970.
Right, that is John Denver's version. Mel Torme's was a single and I have seen the 45 on Ebay. I don't know if it was ever on one of his albums.
my favorite John Denver song
indeed whose garden
Beautiful
Post apocalyptic vision that is not far from the reality of some time in the future if we carry on raping the Earth. The saddest of songs.
Very well put.
Are you John Denver? ???
This song is from an album released in Japan by the same name. Or at least that's where I got it from. I enjoy this version than the original. Sounds more passionate
I'm so glad there are still songs out there by the most amazing folk singer of all time I still haven't heard. Thanks a lot.
A beautiful song about what we're going to lose if we don't do something about pollution and war. Tom Paxton was ahead of his time with this one. Very well done by John. I miss his music so much. I think his songs will be loved forever. Rest in peace, sweet minstrel.
Just so wonderful. I have never heard it before!
Veronica Vale I loved it. Was just thinking about it, last night, for some reason.
This was written by Tom Paxton, and is good but JD sings a much better version
such a lovely song. johns voice is beyond compare.
If you reply I'll be amazed
thanks for posting .this is not a well known song even though it was performed a lot when it was released...I rarely see a pristine location without thinking of this song..and hoping I'll be able to visit it forever
