John Denver - Spirit Lyrics

His spirit joined as so was formed ten thousand years ago.
Between the swan and Hercules where even dark clouds glow.
To live with grace, to ride the swell, to yet be strong of will.
To love the wind, to learn its song, an empty space to fill.
Apollo taught me to rhyme, Orpheus taught me to play.
Andromeda cast down her sign and Vega lights my way.

Smoke rings in a galaxy, an endless flight through time.
Lyra gave her harp to him and left him free to climb.
A winter's journey from the moon to reach the summer sun.
To rise again, to sing for you a song that's yet unsung.
Apollo taught me to rhyme, Orpheus taught me to play.
Andromeda cast down her sign and Vega lights my way.

His spirit joined as so was formed ten thousand years ago.
Between the swan and Hercules where even dark clouds glow.
To live with grace, to ride the swell, to yet be strong of will.
To love the wind, to learn its song, an empty space to fill.

OMG, I have been trying to recall this song for YEARS! I can't believe I have found it. I have the vinyl record including this song, but no way to play it at the moment, The second the music started, I remembered every word and it took me back to my high school days. Bless you John!

He's proof there is a loving God, in tune with the 5 senses of humanity.

Though John's gone, he, and his music, lives on.

Listen to (and sing) this song almost all the time. Oh, how I love John Denver.

  11. B.... M....

I grew up listen to John Denver from mid 70's to his death, his songs makes me relaxed even today. He was my inspiration of giving me confidence as a kid and today still listen to his music as a 58 ole man.

    Very well said.

Following a journey of awakening and learning about being spirit having a physical experience I came back to John 30 plus years after first listening to his songs. I remember the moment with absolute clarity when I discovered he was on this path back then. Openly admitting he was from Lyra and speaking about it, this song is a reflection of that. Beautiful. The energy shines through, thank you John, I know you look upon us now with love and I hope to meet you one day.

I've been a fan since the 70's; just love his stuff. It's helped me many times see things clearer.

I believe Joe Henry collaborated w John on this song which is one of my favs. I have lived JD since 1972 and saw JD in the round at Madison Square Garden w front row seats!! My friends and I waited as 5th through 9th in line for 18 hrs in the bitter NYC cold to get those tickets.....only to have the doors open for ticket sales around the other side of the building a half mile away!! It was pandemonium as we heard people were streaming in on the other side of MSG!! We had to dash to the other side through a sea of people who werent even waiting nearly as long as we were through the winter night (some had just shown up!!) and into the morning when tickets went on sale about 11 a.m. I literally had to fight my way through a crowd as I ran toward the ticket counter and, to my amazement, front row seats were still available! I brought my 35 millimeter camera to the concert circa 1980 and it taken pictures without a flash. It was a tremendous experience because JD was literally 12 ft from us in a packed house at Madison Square Garden holding 20,000 people. Unfortunately ALL of my magazine quality pictures (40) were stolen by a so-called friend of mine who denies the theft to this day. At least I have my memories.... which no one can steal. Miss you John. Thanks for the memories.

Look upon us? You think John Denver is omnipresent and observing living people in 2019? That's bonkers.
