John Denver - Cowboy's Delight Lyrics

Sing songs of the sunrise into the night, the stars as your timepiece, make it all right.
Make friends with the darkness, talk to the moon. When the light lifts, you can let out a tune.

I've been to the mountains, climbed through the sky.
Shouldered their whiteness, watched their gold fly.
Shared in their treasures, shook at their might. Spoke softly of wonders, cowboy's delight.

Sing songs of the sunrise into the night, A song of the mountain, cowboy's delight.
The stars as your timepiece will make it all right, Sing songs of the mountains, cowboy's delight.

I'm sure there was no back up singers. It's John's voice you hear doing all the harmonies.

  5. d.... ....

Only bad thing about this song it's too short

  6. S.... ....

Another one of my favorite John Denver songs. He had the most beautiful background music ever as well as being the greatest guitar player to ever pick up the instrument.

    S.... ....

    His orchestration was superb!!!

@Clouddancer's Tunes (accidentally hit the "dislike" .. LOL) Thanks to the late great Milt Okun for his orchestrations. He was John Denver's George Martin. R.I.P. John, Milt, and Hal Blaine, who played drums on most of John's albums.

This takes me back to my childhood, driving through country lanes in the south and west of England. In my dad's old Volvo, my sister and brother next to me, dogs in the back, mum and dad up front, sunlight streaming through the trees windows down and Windsong in the stereo, windows down and the warm breeze .... magical.

I can tell you exactly where I was when I found out he died.

    R.... L....

I can too, and I was devastated. I cried about 2 weeks afterward.

    R.... L....

Yep. I was in Vancouver Washington driving up the I-5 freeway. It was a sad day indeed.
