John Denver - A Country Girl In Paris Lyrics
A country girl in Paris, moonlight on the Seine. Memories of Tennessee, Nashville in the rain.
It's such a contradiction, a heart that's filled with pain,
A country girl in Paris dreaming Nashville in the rain.
She walks along the boulevard, Champs, Elysee.
Thinks about a country boy three thousand miles away,
to be all alone in Paris with true love so far away.
Up upon Montmartre when she stops to rest awhile,
all the artists look at her and they long to paint her smile.
For even in her sorrow there's something in her eyes
that makes the young men jealous, makes the old men sigh.
They say the loss of innocence is always linked to pain
for once the heart is opened nothing ever is the same.
And so the evening lends itself to lovers and romance,
A country girl in Paris, moonlight on the Seine. Memories of Tennessee, Nashville in the rain.
It's such a contradiction, a heart that's filled with pain,
A country girl in Paris dreaming Nashville in the rain.
A country girl in Paris, longing for Nashville in the rain.

John Denver A Country Girl In Paris Comments
We mis you John!:(
I can't help but think this could be a title for a good movie.
4 years ago I posted a short note about that one love of your life. Many years have gone by since we were together. I've never forgotten Carol and over the years I've searched hoping to find that love. About a year ago I found her. I told her how much I loved her then and still do. She felt/feels the same way. We are now together living the life we should have had years ago. At this age most people have memories, we are living the memories right now. She is my angel, my heaven always and forever.
Then god bless your union glen !
We miss you, John! :(
What a loss to the fans and music
BEST ONE
"Such a contradiction"... her man is "3000 miles away..." but, Nashville is 7012 kilometres (4357 miles) from Paris! Just had to put it out there! Why didn't John just say... "over 3000 miles away"... that would have covered it! Lovely song though... love it...
muggezifter !!
beautiful song, beautiful voice.
I think he really meant was a county boy in Paris...just reverse the gender and he's singing his song.
Nah i'm pretty sure it was actaually about his girlfriend at the time whom was in Paris. i could be wrong though.. good perception

The king of lyric, master of melody. Sad loss.
Once you've known true love, your life is never quite the same. And, the hurt of losing such a love is one you never quite get over. Love, a funny thing a part of
growing up I suppose.
A lovely but sad song. The words - 'They say the loss of innocence is always linked to pain, for once the heart is opened nothing ever is the same' are soo true. If we could only turn back the clocks but with our adult minds... Ah well....
