John Anderson - I Just Came Home To Count The Memories Lyrics

I saw roses choking in the grass flaking paint in a broken window pane
A mailbox barely standin' by the driveway I can almost read the name
A swing set and forgotten toys where little girls and boys played happy games
Everything I ever about is gone now but the mem'ries still remain

The old man from the house across the street asked how's it goin' and I said fine
But the expression on his face would make me think that he could almost read my mind
That Johnson boy from down the road was asking if the kids could come and play
Lord I wish I could have told them yes but I just said I guess son not today

I just came home to count the mem'ries that I've been carrying in my mind
Just came home to count the mem'ries of a better day and time

All the birds that sang a pretty song aren't singing like they did when we were here
Cause there's no happiness in music if someobody isn't close enough to care
I picked arraged daisy from its home out in the corner of the yard
She loves me she loves me not now I don't have to wonder anymore

I just came home to count the mem'ries that I've been carrying in my mind
I just came home to count the mem'ries I guess it's time to say goodbye

Sometimes words fail to express the feelings of the heart like a song does. Trucker Mike

  2. B.... D....

    My life in song🤔😢

  3. J.... B....

Cal Smith did this also !!! Brings memories from the 70's and 80's growing up!!! Beautiful song!!!

  4. J.... R....

I am listening to this and thinking back 30 years ago when I had that kind of house. And how I lost it all with my drinking

  5. J.... G....

John Anderson, Mel Tillis, George Jones, Bellamy Brothers, Florida has talent

    J.... G....

Even a broke clock is right 2 times a day ... I've been to the sunshine state and seen a lot of "Florida-man" on the news, national news, on Facebook, Google, and best yet here on YouTube done by top tenz with that Brit dude. When your population is over 21 million, statisticly I would've expected that more than a few would be so talented and a legend in county music!

    J.... G....

Now let's take a look at my home state, Oklahoma. We have less than a quarter of y'alls population, just shy of 4 million in the Sooner state. But..... we have more than a few talented, famous, and legendary artist thyat call or have called this place home! Hell we even got ones that ain't even raised up here but call this home now (Rodney carrington, past miranda Lambert, now gwen Stefani, Trisha yearwood) but true Hokies are huhgarth Brooks, vince gill, Reba Mcentire, The late and great Merle haggard, toby Keith, mel McDaniel, Blake Shelton, the swon brothers, bob wills, carrie Underwood, and many, many, more.

Eddie Thompson A lot of today's country music coming out of Nashville isn't crap.

    E.... T....

@57HarleyDavidson well it's not the stuff of WAYLON and JOHNNY and GEORGE or KIETH or EARL

    E.... T....

@Eddie Thompson Ever listen to William Michael Morgan, Mo Pitney, Aaron Watson, Jon Pardi, Justin Moore, Chris Janson, Cody Johnson, Granger Smith.

    E.... T....

@57HarleyDavidson met Aaron Watson long time ago and love his music. Have seen William Michael Morgan open for Allen Jackson this year. I seen Cody Johnson this year and Chris Stapleton and Jamie Johnson..but MY FAVORITE 3 SHOWS so far this year are The Steel Woods opening for CODY JINKS and then catching CODY JINKS in another show..Then AARON LEWIS was awesome.. the young man that opened up for CoJo was Jacob Bryant and I will go see him again..I know I'm missing someone else but I can't think right now it's been a FUN YEAR SO FAR 😁

  40. m.... p....

It's true that the Government has lost it's mind and a lot of people are crazy as Hell. That always happens when people drift from God and doing what's right. God has a way of giving people exactly what they deserve. If you first don't know God's 10 Commandments and then learn all of the Old Testament then you will be Deceived by all the New Testament LIES. The Jewish people had God's 10 Commandments and broke all of them and made Their own UnGodly Laws, Pagan Idols, Customs, Traditions and Nasty Blood Sacrifices and made their Bible. They also started The Messiah / Savior / Christ LIES and the Roman Empire / Vatican Perfected them and made their Bible and Created the False God Jesus the Christ and has Deceived the world with their Lies.,,,, Fact: The King James Bible is just a Satanic Roman Catholic Bible that's written in English. It has Many truths in it and many Lies. If you want to escape God's wrath, Then You better repent and do what's right. God is a God of the here and Now and gives to all what's right. All the Man God stories are Lies and so are all of the Son of God Stories. Jesus never said he was the Christ or the Son of God. But, Because of what he done, God changed the world. The Fact of the matter is, God is a God of the Here and Now and Gives to all what's right.
