We had a ranch in FL, 420 acres of citrus, God I hated putting up smudge pots. I went back home and most of the groves are no longer people let a lot of their groves go. Our place was sold when Grand daddy passed and my daddy, now it is a dairy farm. Sigh.

used to have some in my family (my grandfather sold in 90s) along with a ranch, but they're probably a parking lot or a shopping center now.
John Anderson is a true American working man that made his career and made his mark in life telling the truth and telling the people how life really is. As a young man, he showed responsibility by working in and around the orange groves in Apopka, FL. and playing in a little rock band. After he moved to Nashville in 1971, he managed to get a construction job that included building the new Grand Ole Opry building. He also played at some local venues and eventually was signed to a recording contract and the rest is history! He is an American Workingman Hero is is to be saluted!

This is the first John Anderson song i heard oh so many years ago. He is a true to his word man born straight out of middle class.
And people say that business owners don't work but sit in a chair counting their money as it come in.
And they name those communities after the orange groves so that in 20 years kids will be wondering where the oranges are.
