Why this is not regarded as one the best Billy Joel's music videos? The film sequence is just amazing . The story of a man rushing home to his loving ones.

What an amazing song. Kind of bittersweet for me, as my girlfriend and I parted ways when this song came out. But now, meh!

....that, this song NEVER gets the recognition, airplay & RESPECT it SO deserves!!....NOW, that 'Father Time' has ravaged myself, this introspective, melancholy tune resonates with me on an interpersonal level now; the Video....ick...but, I respect the directors' 'arty' approach to the 'Circle Of Life' of a Young Man (possibly Billy) going through his LIFE....VERY well filmed, though...almost cinematic in its reach... The Video suggests:

- Billy (in the 'dark') wanted to be a 'rocker', but that ideal was 'snatched' away by life's expectancies (0:05 )....

- A Young Man's 'leap' into Marriage (1:00) & children (1:17), which are a sham...a 'play' of sorts (1:27),as to what's 'expected' of him, in societies' "eyes", in the Circle Of Life...

- ..The Young Man's running away / escape from 'responsibilities' (1:39) indicate he's not at all pleased with the 'Baby Boomer' moniker he's now been placed with...

- The 'sun setting down' on the Young Man's life (2:26), and, Billy seeing the 'Child in his eyes' again, when he WAS that child....(2:30)...

- The Young Man finding his 'New Flame' (2:53) and starting his LIFE's journey (which was at the start of the video), and the 'circle' of life, that spins around, FAST, and out of control, which seems to be indicated in the one, final 'spinning' shot at (3:19)....

....live life, kids, while the Night Is Still Young....'cause it gets dark, FAST....🏃‍♂️💨

This song makes me cry every time I hear it, doesn't matter how many years have gone by, still does, such a beautiful song.

Good song, heck, TERRIFIC song, but my issue with the video (as video) is the ending. It feels like they ran out of visuals, and so they were stuck with the final minute or so being, if not a single shot, at least a singular visual. That's an awfully long time to stay on one image; you could argue that it's an error of the medium, when used in a promotional short.

I agree with everyone! This song was a mile-marker. It signified his shift from anti-establishment young rocker to introspective husband, father, and musician who wanted a fulfilling life.

Gregory O'Neill that’s one of the most interesting things about Billy’s library,he wrote what he felt like writing not what a handful of critics said he should right. He was never cool enough for rock critics. He could right any kind of music. Glass houses was mostly an f u to the guys that said he wasn’t a real rock artist. His style changes more than anyone else I know

Bully Joel is one of those few artists whose songs that aren't famous, though little in number, seem underrated.

That's what i thought too, but he is the 6th best selling artist of all time. The Beatles are number 1, and Michael Jackson is number 7.

THIS one was written decades ago in the 80's, I know that because I am in my 50's and I used to listen to this song alot back in the 80's. As for Nicki Minaj I have never heard her version but unless she wrote her version 30 years ago I would say without ANY doubt that Billy Joel wrote his version first so it is IMPOSSIBLE that Billy copied Nicki on this song.

BTW, This "cheap" guy is one of the greatest singer-songwriters, performers of all time. 40 sold out shows out Madison Square Garden in NYC, Still the fourth biggest selling solo artist ever and that's with not having written an album of new material in 23 years!
