Joe Cocker - Hitchcock Railway Lyrics

Two train tickets into L.A.
One round trip the other way
Oh, I get the feelin' when forever calls
I get the feelin' when forever calls

Home trip, ticket to sail away
Hand grip, Hitchcock railway
Soft ride, made for comfort
Been tried, guaranteed passport

Hitchcock railway, please don't fail to pay
Hey, I'm gonna ride, I'm gonna testify
Get my soul, lift my mind

Good stop, good day
Hitchcock railway

Free fare, conductor's comin'
Prepare, better start runnin'
On time, hold you through now
State line, I've been convicted

Quick stop, good day
Hitchcock railway

Please hold on
Ooh, somebody take a train ride
Ooh, leap on

Two train tickets into L.A.
One round trip the other way
Oh, I get the feelin' where the river falls
I get the feelin' where the river falls

Home trip, ticket to sail away
Hand grip, Hitchcock railway
Soft ride, made for comfort
Been tried, guaranteed passport

Hitchcock railway, please don't fail to pay
Hey, I'm gonna ride, I'm gonna testify
Get my soul, lift my mind

Quick stop, good day
Hitchcock railway

I'm gonna take the safe way home, oh, alright
I'm gonna ride a train back home
I'm gonna buy me a ticket at a station
Don't want to go on a train tonight

On a train tonight
On a train tonight
On a train tonight

Seen Joe every gig down under and also in the USA but this band undoubtedly the hottest and gifted groups he ever had ,i play keyboards and I can’t even get anywhere near the class and skill Chris Stainton has in this track .The only guy close was Nicky Hopkins RIP another one of
Joe,s great piano players along with Leon of course .

Joe was AWESOME at Woodstock 1969~~~ I was 17 and saw him...heard him...and, yes, i am sad he is gone. He was incredibly kind, and personable!! after his time on stage back at that concert...he was kind to those who came around to visit him...yes...woodstock was a shithole when the rains came but it was one of the best experiences I went thru and it was worth being grounded for my senior year in high school when I got home to north Chicago...even my dad (he died in 1996) told me he was surprised but enamored that I had the guts to do that. I can't wait to see my dad in heaven and get and give big hugs...

Hi Ed and Joann. YES I was touring with Joe Cocker in the early 90's. My last gig with him was 1998. "Leave Your Hat On" is a pulsating and sexy song. Glad you enjoyed the show.

  37. C.... D....

Thank you Lendi. It's not easy to dance and sing at the same time and stay in pitch but that's how I've always done it. And yes.....we are having a ball. It's all LIVE no lip sync. I'm currently working on a solo project and hope to have my on video soon. But I loved working with Joe Cocker. A wonderful man

  38. C.... D....

Any connection between this song & Hitchcock's 1950 film 'Strangers on a Train'? Sure feels that we are on a strange train in 2012.

  49. k.... g....

cydneywayne, So excited that you came to this site and let us know who you are! Just fantastic music. Can only echo the others, a giant "THANK YOU!"

  50. b.... ....

@cydneywayne Elvis & Joe have always had the most awesome backup singers ! Always !! So, thanks for being there !!

    b.... ....

As well as Leon Russell, Lou Reed, & the Stones, & Tina Turner, & even Ringo Starr on his solo album. Back-up singers are the differnce in what makes a good song, or a fucking great song!

  51. L.... ....

    @cydneywayne

@cydneywayne I can't imagine what it must have been like to be a part of this. I could watch and listen forever. I feel priveleged just to type to you, Cydney. You all are just the cream of the entertainment crop. And I love seeing what Joe has done with his life, both onstage and off. It takes special people to put this much art into a performance. Or maybe it's just who you all are.

  59. J.... B....

    love the guitar

  60. J.... ....

    AMFA IS SO GOOD

  61. E.... B....

    Hi Cydney
Were you with Joe in the early 90's at Pine Knob in Clarkston Michigan? My wife and I saw Joe there and I don't think we sat down once after he started You Can Leave Your Hat On. Great show and where does the time go? Thanks for shareing your great talent with us over the years. Ed & Joann

  62. W.... ....

    @cydneywayne
    Hi Cydney,
I'm just an old rocker - I went to school with Mick Jagger, but these live performances with Joe Cocker, brilliantly arranged, performed by really great musicians, with great, sexy back up dancers are my all time favourites. Particularly "Unchain my Heart" and My Love is Alive". I was in the audience for the recording of "All You Need is Love"in 1967 and this looks like it matched it for atmosphere. Congratulations on being a part of it.

  63. S.... ....

@cydneywayne Hi Cydney. Yes, kid Andranik did a really good job, indeed very well done (sorry Andranik for call you kid, but as I could be your mam - hahaha - I think I could call you this way). Very nice to have introduced the whole BAND. They deserve it.
