Joe Cocker - Guilty Lyrics
Yes, baby, I been drinkin'
And I shouldn't come by I know
But I found myself in trouble
And I had nowhere else to go
Got some cocaine from a friend
I just had to keep on movin'
Til I was back in your arms again
Guilty, baby I'm guilty
And I'll be guilty the rest of my life
How come I never do what I'm supposed to do
How come nothin' that I try to do ever turns out right?
You know, you know how it is with me baby
And it takes a whole lot of medicine
For me to pretend that I'm somebody else

Joe Cocker Guilty Comments
Grande versão! Joe Cocker é um grande intérprete! Randy Newman devia estar pensando em Joe Cocker quando escreveu a letra, pois ninguém melhor que Joe Cocker para interpreta-la!
This cocker album along with Greg Allmans’s “LaidBack” album are the 2 most soul bearing albums ever made!
Excellent. I usually somewhat discredit musicians who don´t write their own stuff but I do make an exception with Joe Cocker. What a performer/singer!
Good until that last verse.... Randy's line "You know how it is with me baby, you know I just can't stand myself" is so much more devastating of a lyric than "You know how it is with me, the times I just can't help myself." Almost takes the full brunt of the emotion out of the song. Loved Joe Cocker though...
Naz version is way better
💐❤️💐❤️💐❤️💐
One of the most emotional Randy Newman songs. Joe knows the emotion.
vance arnold!
what a great song. thank's for this vídeo, inmortal art
And, unlike Belushi, Joe, with the help of a good woman, cleaned up his act, got sober, and didn't lose his heartfelt singing, his ability to express his emotions thru song.
Joe totally held it together for this song. Even his "whisky from a barman" is crispy clear and much easier to understand than the song's author Randy Newman or Bonnie Raitt's cover. All of them give the song the justice it deserves.
You apparently don't know much about Joe Cocker,.
I saw Joe when he was doing his "Mad Dogs and Englishmen" tour. Leon Russell, Chris Stainton, Rita Coolidge, and others were in his show. Delaney and Bonnie, and Friends opened that night. Eric Clapton was playing guitar with them. What a freakin' night in 1970....
is there any recording of billy joel singing this because i heard it and instantly thought of him. please lemme know if him singing it exists or badger him to sing it even though his vocals are fading with age i still think this is song he must sing.
And yes mike i agree. This is wonderful.Just wonderful.
just for the record: this is Randy Newman's song...
Stunning, amazing and wonderful, but still - I feel that John Belushi gets through to me with this song a bit more, as if he knew more about what he was singing. After all his personal life and health were a bit of a wreck, weren't they?
Have you listened to. Bonnie Raitt sing this ? Talk about feeling it.
I agree...Belishi's version seems more from someone who is looking for shelter one quarter step ahead of the storm...
Seeing this man live two summers ago in san Diego was one of the most inspirational moments of my life
i will always love you
@GreatMuta Nice? What is nice? Nothing is nice. That is teh theme, How can it bi nice?
Just beautiful ! He always makes my state of mind peaceful and calm.
Joe Cocker is awesome, one of my heroes - he proved that gruff, ugly guys like him and me can express lovely, eloquent music just as well as any pretty boy.
Paints a great picture of my altered reality. Really hits home.
luv the blues - luv Joe !
