my favorite Kinks song, and there was no surprise that Joanie did a cover of this. I love both, but i am biased to Joanie as she is not only my favorite musician, singer , songwriter , and protector, my saver and my friend from Jr High Rock on Sweetie I will get you so re aired I so promise you Joanie! other than crimson, one of my fave covers after you dont own me. the kinks were a fave back then and Joanie and the Blackhearts nail this oh Ray and Dave would be proud I know they are! No. This is a fail. I don't get any feeling of pathos, like I do with the original. This cover is flat and by the numbers. There is no emotion in it. The original makes me want to cry. This one makes me want to cry too, but for entirely different reasons.

Not a bad cover by Joan but this is just not her style of music. I still prefer the original studio version by the Kinks....a haunting Ray Davies melody that cuts like a knife.

I always knew Joan had a really great rock voice, but she sounds great doing a soft song too. I've never heard this one, and I thought I'd heard everything she's done. Joan, you can do no wrong.

Joan Jett sounds great in this but being a Marilyn Monroe fan its a shame its not the full version which mentions her.

@Tim K Yeah, that's my favorite line from the song, which has so many great lines. She's in the video, though, for some reason.

I adore the original rendition but this one is just beautiful ! My only regret is there are not the additional lyrics included. Still your wonderful clip made up for it :D

@Brian Grant Hey man, you know how much I love Joan Jett.!! Why didn't you share this with me??? I will admit it's not the best version of this song, no one can ever top the Kinks on this, but it was still interesting hearing and seeing Joan Jett doing this song!! Again she was not the best at this song, she's better with the more rockin' wild songs, but it was a nice change hearing this from her point of view!!

Her voice sounded good in this video.  Not all of it was screaming.

It was good until the end.  Then it got self serving when she included her own star on Hollywood Blvd.  Just my opinion.  You don't have to agree with it.

I LIKE JOAN'S VERSION OF THIS CLASSIC KINKS SONG

I've heard the Kinks, Blackmore Nights, Bon Jovi....alll very good, but Joan Jett's is best.  Most sincere sounding and the best energy.  Sometimes the kinks were pitchy.  Joan Jett is always spot on.  I've watched her videos for years, and her talent for delivering amazing emotional performances every time for more than 30 years is extremely impressive.  Every friggin live performance sounds like she's singing the song for the first time, like it's fresh and new to her.  I hope her life is a very happy one!  I hope she's in a good place and her home on Long Island is rebuilt and she can really enjoy the success she's had.  She's a hard worker, still touring like crazy, which is so cool.  I hope she has time to relax too.
