Yes moment s are moment s.....

Some people put themselves as juges about Baez and Dylan's personnal lives. They shouldn't speak like this as they don't know them personally. What happened to them both belongs to them both, and Dylan is one of our best song writer in the XXe century. Without his songs Baez wouldn't have made the link between her singing and her poilitics. I do love what Baez achieved artistically and politically but I don't know her personally. What we see on stages or on TV shows might be quite different from what or who they are outside in daily life. So don't juge and appreciate their music.

@taddyd1 Well, they did that. I have my Fathers old record. It has Dylan songs on it and GASP an electric guitar on a few cuts.

Just noticed there's a least a half dozen Asian posts of this song. It has well over a million views.

@taddyd1 Dylan did not play on the record as far as I know. The Guitarist"s name was Langhorn I think. My Great Grandfather was a cook in a logging camp. I love songs about the north woods

@Mark Smith if it's Bruce Langhorne then "Pines" is from the "Farwell Angelina" sessions (not an earlier recording from the vaults) and was recorded after the Dylan/Baez break-up.
Langhorne also played extensively on her following "rock n roll" album which still has not been released in full, just three songs:
Pack up your Sorrows
All The World Had Gone By and
Swallow Song.

My Mother has played me Joan Baez since I can remember. This was always my favourite song when I was younger, and I remember not really understanding when Mum said that it was sad. I suppose I just enjoyed the music...and now I can feel the sadness, too.

It's from the late half of the 1960's. The song dates much older and was written in the state of Wisconsin about a real Romeo and Juliet type romance in the late 1800's on the Chippewa River!

One of my favorite Joan Baez songs. I saw her live on the 27th September 2011 and it's a shame she didn't play it.

i used to listen to this, and sing it, when i was a teen. so good to heart it again.

One of the records I grew up with.
I still have the record (that's right, one of those large, black, mechanical thingies made of vinyl), unfortunately it's scratched and sounding rather horrible. Good to hear it without all that rustling.
