Jimmy Barnes - What Will They Say Lyrics
Been through troubled waters
What I have seen
Took it to the borders
Rock’n’rolls been good to me
Though the times of hurt and dispair
I could not leave you far behind
Know I took my time
But what will they say
When daddy's gone
Daddy’s gone away
I’ve got my sons and daughters
My cavalry
And like a wounded soldier
They rescue me
For you I’d put that bottle,
Time I put that bottle to bed
I could not leave you far behind
Know I took my time
But what will they say
When daddy's gone
Daddy’s gone away
And running though the fire
Never leave you
But who am I to decide
When daddy’s gone
When daddy’s gone
Baby I could not leave you far behind
Know i
Baby I could not leave you far behind
Know i
Baby I could not leave you far behind
But what will they say
Daddy's gone
When daddy’s gone
I’ve been through troubled waters
What I have seen

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Brilliant 💜
Absolutely love this. The brothers singing so beautifully. Oh gosh, words can't describe it, just listen x
The lyric "I been through troubled water what I have seen" - is testimony to both John & Jimmy and their sisters as to their childhood. You have to have read Jimmy's first biography 'Working Class Boy' to understand how their lives worked in Glasgow, Scotland, and then Elizabeth in Adelaide, Australia when they were the Swan family. Then you'll get an idea in my opinion how the title of this beautiful ballad was formed. For both John & Jimmy to be sane is in itself a miracle. No, that isn't being extreme, I believe it is genuinely a real statement. May I reiterate; you need to read Jimmy's story to understand. For any child to have lived, to endure the constant, consistent violence, abuse, and real poverty, is beyond my reality. I guess that is why I had rather strong feelings of empathy for John, Jimmy, and their sisters, when I first listened to this song about 10 minutes ago. They are true survivors who have seen way way too much of life's dark side.
I love both Jimmy Barnes and John Swan. They are Awesome
pretty ballad
Brothers together singing WOW Wow. John Swan used to visit Tasmania many moons ago and he is just as brillant at screaming as Jimmy. Been to every concert of Jimmy here in Tasmania. 60 now n hoping there are a few more yet. Go in my wheel chair if I need to.
