Ira Forest Stanphill (1914-1993). Of the over 500 songs he wrote, the most famous is "MANSION OVER THE HILLTOP." Stanphill was an evangelist who pastored many churches and preached in over 40 countries. He could sing, and played the piano, organ, accordian, clarinet, xylophone, ukulele, and saxaphone. In 1976 he had a malignant brain tumor removed, and lived another 17 years before expiring from a heart attack at age 79.

Heard this song a lot when i was a kid. My mother would sing it in bands w/ my dad. Its a tear jerker anyway, but i also think of my mom n dad in their youth and makes me sad. My father died Christmas morn 2005. My mother is 88yrs old n still going strong. As a guitar player myself, i thank both my mom n dad for always having music around us; always instruments lying around! Love everything about music. When it gets deep in your soul n blood, its there to never go away

I just went through your collection of music and I noticed your daughter Dawn was born in 1968 ....I too was born June 1968. I am 49 now. Am so sad. God Bless you all. I weep when I hear this song, as it reminds me of my darling Dad. I lost him in a road accident in 1992 when I was 24 yrs and since been a tearful shattered person.
