Jim Reeves - In A Mansion Stands My Love Lyrics

On a mountain stands a mansion so fine
And it looks down on this cabin of mine
I had a love and I loved her true
But along came a rich man and loved her to
Now on a mountain in a mansion stands my love.
Well, he promised he'd buy her diamond rings
Yes, he promised fancy dresses and things
He promised everything indeed
But it can't buy the love that her poor heart needs
On a mountain in a mansion so fine.

Now, I know that she's not happy there
And I know that she's got thing to bad
My only dream is that someday
She'll come right back here and stay
In the cabin in the valley with me.
On a mountain stands a mansion so fine
And it looks down on this cabin of mine
I had a love and I loved her true
But along came a rich man and loved her to
Now, on a mountain in a mansion stands my love.
On a mountain in a mansion stands my love.
On a mountain in a mansion stands my love...

  1. M.... ....

The flip side of his larger than life, utterly stupendous signature 45 (He'll Have To Go) and a monster classic in its own right. One of the most perfect singles ever made.

  6. C.... K....

Love this Jim Reeves single and the guitar work in it. Probably is Leo Jackson. Didn't realize that this was written by Johnny Russell and launched him into some fame with this being the B side of "He'll Have To Go." Cool story.

  7. J.... W....

this was a few years before 1960 !! cos it was one of the songs with which i learned to dance

Great voice and lyrics. I grew up on this music and am saddened by what we call music today!

  13. M.... ....

Absolute, jaw dropping, utter perfection. One of the most immaculate singles ever made. And to think it was a B-side (of He'll Have To Go, which is also about as good as it gets). I play his Gospel album almost every morning. He is greatly, greatly missed.

  14. 3.... ....

I played this to death in Antiks in Rheindhalen in 62, great record.

  15. s.... p....

Great. Hevenly Voice of Jim Reeves. He had voice like no other.

  16. t.... ....

Jim Reeves had a voice like no other. This was one of his few fast-tempo songs - a treasure. A ballad of unrequited love - poor boy and rich girl. Leo Jackson's guitar work in the background is unmistakable and exquisite.
