Jewel - Supermarket Song Lyrics
I wanna say welcome to a wonderland
An amusement park full of delights and
The best part is they have one in every town
its your local market where you ride a cart around
And every kind of cereal that goes on for miles
Flour and milk that can be made
Into brown gravy for supper Sunday
They got 50 pound bags of chicken nuggets
They got yummy yogurt by the bucket.
Shelves and shelves of home made stuffin’
Oh what a treat
[CHORUS]
They have everything that you could want and so much more
Its so hard to keep my hands inside the cart
But I better try or mom won't bring me back no more
They got sweet and sour stir fried rice
They got Alaskan salmon sitting on ice
They got blue corn chips and bagel bites
Coconut in a can
And if your from the south you'll be really pleased
They have black eyed peas and collared greens
And if you're from the North there's stuff just for you
Like king crab legs and eskimo pie, too
They have lots of veggies so you'll grow up tall
Beef and chicken so you'll be strong and all
The dairy to help build unbreakable bones
Hey, ice cream counts, at least I think so
[CHORUS]
They have chocolate chip cookies and pecan snookies
And pop corn snacks where its says on the back
You get a toy surprise like x-ray glasses for your eyes
There's croissant rolls, jelly rolls, soda fountains overflow
If I don't get my snow cone my head will explode
They got barbecue chicken with all the fixings
Sweet buttermilk for buttermilk biscuits
Brownies in a box, just water and mix em’
Oh oh, Ummm Ummm good
[CHORUS +]
Yes, its so hard to keep my hands inside the cart
But I better try or mom won't bring me back no more
Please...
This is the last thing I'll ever ask for in my entire life
Please...
Its just 99 cents...

Jewel Supermarket Song Comments
Childhood
To all of the WM workers who have to put up with this rubish day in and day out you have my pity.
you met my mom and you dated my grampa aron my last name bal
What happened to jewel? This is sad, if she continued her image like in Intuition she could have been a very famous pop star lik Britney Spears now. But now she's a reject doing shitty songs that no one has heard of
love you jewel 💂
Ahahah employers comments are so funny!!i loud this song anyway
1130 here! Still playing
this song is FUN!
and catchy! so SHUT UP!
I would listen to it anyday rather than Justin biebers carpy songs
0826 - hear this song every nite also just wanted to look it up
only a woman would make a song about a grocery store
I thought it was an old song because of the style of music... but it turns out that it's JEWEL! I WANT THAT BITCH DEAD BECAUSE OF THIS SONG! not really, but I do hate this song and I hate her for creating it.
The melody is genius (as mentioned - classic 50's style) but the lyrics can go burn in hell.
This song, Mungo Jerry's "In the Summertime" and that putrid Selena Gomez "Love you like a love song" cause me to suffer all day at work. There are others too, but those three are the top three contenders for work-related music agony.
I swear EVERY Walmart worker has heard this song at least 5,000 times.
I did not know this was Jewel - but this song makes me think of Black Friday... er, um "The Yearly Event" which SOMEHOW managed to be the only song you could hear over all the chaos.
Actually my great grandmother bought me the disc of this and other jewel songs... _/('-' )\_
#0535 Hate this song!!! I work on the o/n brit team and the music is very loud in the back. Think about grabbing the tall orange ladder and diving head first every time I hear this song. The same damn 10 songs every night for the the love of god make it stop!!!
2536 right hur!
So agreed. I wish we had a dead speaker somewhere, lol
Grocery @ 3278
They always play this song on the radio at Walmart where I work.
Every time I want to kill myself.
1790 - Grocery....this is Jewel? What the heck? lol
I have been looking EVERYWHERE for this song. Coconut in a can! they used to play this all the time when i worked at walmart lol its how i got through my day hahahahahah
I'm already at that age. And then some, lol. I just had to look this up though, I hear it every damn night, I was wondering if it was something WalMart was using for subliminal orders or something.
You will reach an age where occasionally, you'll like a song on the Muzak and want to know who it's by. This, however, is not one of them. :)
#0662 reppin yo! lol
Same here, I got curious and looked it up. :D
This would have sounded old even in the 50's-sounds more like it's from the 20's!
I just started working overnight at Walmart, and hear this song all the time. It's the only thing that makes me miss the MuZaK at my old Home Depot job.
yep, exactly! @ #5476 in NJ
Have you ever heard Jewel yodel? If so, what did you think of it?
3499 here up in Wisconsin! We need to protest this song...
I KNOW RIGHT
0771 Grocery. My speakers have a short fuze in my backroom. So usually I hide back there when this song starts. It's amazing how terrible a song ABOUT a grocery store is especially when you work at one.
0425 IMS. At least we close, so half of the time we listen to what we want. The other half, we ignore because it's this and other stuff I don't half listen to.
Night shift at Wally World...I've heard this and other songs so much, I don't even hear them anymore.
THIS SONG.
I work night shift and when this song starts to play I just have to stop what I'm doing and slowly shake my head. Among the 80s classics and top chart songs, this comes on and I'm like... "seriously, wtf"
I love this. A lot more because it bothers all of you!
Night shift at Wal Mart here too and I'm so SICK of this song but i just had to see who was singing it
1243, At least I know who sings this annoying song now!
Sadly, we can't make the choice on what we listen to on the nightshift there. We USED to, kind of, back when we had WalMart radio...which has vanished with so much else there...
The worst part is that it's one of those songs that you actually end up loving despite how annoying it is....
1885 IMS - this song makes me want to chuck cans of baked beans at my co-workers.
You know, before I found out this horror is by jewel, I used to have respect for her.
I call BS. Sure, some of the songs are pretty bad (or at least bad covers of good songs) but there are some real gems in there. I'd rather hear the barney song than this one.
Wow. Love all the comments...All I have to say is. Just say what ya gotta say. Which is another song that drives me nuts on that loop.
Every time I hear this song it makes me want to quit! I hate working for WalMart Now!!!!
song everyday night shift...pain
1991 Lawn and Garden. Fuck this song. I hear it everyday and it just sounds like it's imprinting the idea of buying groceries into customers' heads. Those evil Walmart bastards.
This is probably the best song played over the store radio. Unlike the other 10 hours of music, this one actually stands out as a good novelty song.
I'm only thumbs upping you because you right, i searched this to find the artist.... BUT if I have to hear this again..... I WILL PERSONALLY CALL THE DEPT OF HOMELAND SECURITY TO VOLUNTEER TO BE WATERBOARDED!!!!!
OH GOD, I JUST HAAAAAD TO COME HERE, DIDN"T I!??? Gosh...Wally World follows me everywhere. :\
Reading all these comments makes me feel so much closer and connected to my fellows Wal-Mart workers.
OMG! Everyone gets the same 9-10 hour loop! I'm just starting to get to know the order the songs are played in. While I'd love to see the classic Wal-Mart radio come back, the CD (it's at least a 9 hour loop, because it never repeats on one of my shifts) is at least better than the silence or all the damn personal iPods or cell phones played WAY too loud. I have to admit, I kinda like this one, though I'd never have guessed it was Jewel.
my store just got the CD last month.
Yes, Wal-Mart uses this on us as well, complete torture!!!! So why did I go looking for it???
I heard this song in a SPA
This song will get stuck inside all the worker's heads!
I've heard this song at Wal-Mart while I unloading a truck.
So this is who sings that god forsaken song!
I work at wal-mart and I have been looking for this nonstop with no info until now...now i can kill it with fire...
This song isnt nearly as bad as the one by selena gomez "Love you like a love song"...which is also in the playlist and btw walmart radio was awesome.
Store 1483 and I couldnt ask for a better job.
@Cleasonalman...same here man!
0412 Athens TX here. Here this darn song everynight. Its annoying but catchy. Had to look it up on youtube.
I work overnights, glad I don't have to hear this.
As soon as there was a break in the lyrics, I stopped listening. Seriously Jewel? *sighs*
0600. The first time I heard this, I was like ugh, really? Yet now I'm here looking it up on youtube.
amen me bredah amen
Jewel should burn in HELL for this song and a big F*Ck YOU TO Wal-Mart,F*ck them motherfuc*kers !
I can't believe some of the song on the cd they play. a few are very sexual and one is nothing but a song about oral sex but in the form of a love song.
2nd shift IMS @ 1665. It seems like every time I'm picking or binning - this song is playing. It truly is getting old.
5399 TLE yes it's gotten old
4412. So help me god if i have to deal with a dickbag customer while this song is playing, I will be going to prison.
3339 here. I hate Jewel even more now. Not only do I hafta hear this one 10x a day, but tidbits of this whole album being advertised in the infants dept through this endcap stand. I die a little more inside every day.
that's what I thought, too. Jewel should be ashamed for this song. Through it, she's contributing to the daily (or nightly, depending on shift) torture of thousands of wal-mart employees
yes. every wal-mart. corporate headquarters sends out the cd and tells the stores that that's the only cd they're allowed to play
agreed. I *hate* this song because of wal-mart
this song can burn in hell
680 here, even after it stops playing it won't stop in our minds
I work at 1667. This is the only song that I've heard of management openly complaining about... Not just one manager... ALL OF THEM.
3339 here. hearing this song all day makes me wanna run face first, full speed into a brick wall.
I was surprised when I found out this was Jewel. This song sounds like it's from the '50s.
Also that lady who sings, "who dooid and made you king of anything", I love how every comment here is WM associates writhing in agony, WALMART MADNESS.@ 2558
I work in produce at #1962 and by the 6th time I hear this song on an 8-hr. shift, I want to rip my face off and vomit into the never-soiled stainless sink. Also on my list of songs I never ever want to hear again are Cheryl Crow's "Soak Up The Sun" and Whitney Houston's "I Wanna' Dance with Somebody Who Loves Me." I hear Smash Mouth's "Walking on the Sun" so often now that I start mumbling the lyrics in a monotone chatter during my sleep.
I work for Walmart over night too and this song is stuck in my head too LOL
Ha ha I work for Walmart too! They got rid of Walmart Radio, which I loved. Now we have CDs sent to the stores by corporate. We're supposed to get a new one every quarter. This song is on our current CD. I wish they'd bring back the radio station format. I've been at 1417 for 7 years; been w/the company almost 20.
Why does walmart have to play the same music every single day?!?!?! I've worked at walmart for 5 1/2 years and all the repeating all the time makes you hate songs even if you used to love them before. This sounded like a 40's song, so I had to look it up. I was like... "Why is walmart playing 40's music?"
Also work at Walmart.
2227 here... its on ALL DAY LONG... I think its hilarious to find all comments here from Wal*Mart lol.
I work at Wal-Mart, too! This song's a damn earworm!
Thumbs Up if you heard this song cause you work at Wal-Mart!!
5361 here!
ha me 2!!!
Store 820 says Thumbs Up!
Ditto, lol.
It plays quite often at 5123 as well. Luckily I'm front end, and they don't play the music up there lol. Not that its a bad song, I actually kind of like the style, I just hate hearing the same stuff over and over :P
every time this song plays i just want to crawl in the compactor.
I work at wal-mart too and I swear I hear this song at least 5 times a day. Seesh......
Night shift? We're getting it during the day at 1416!
What a POS
I work Night shift at Wal Mart... this song is Burned into my mind!!!!
LOVE THISS SONGGGOMGGGG ITSSS FANTASTICCC
I LOVE THIS AND IM 30 YEAR OLD
