Jethro Tull - The Third Hoorah Lyrics
Hoorah!
WarChild, dance the days and nights away ---
sweet child, how do you do today?
When your back's to the wall,
then side with whoever you may.
Seek that which within lies waiting to begin
the fight of your life that is everyday.
Dance with the WarChild --- Hoorah.
WarChild, dance the days and nights away ---
sweet child, how do you do today?
In the heart of your heart, there's the tiniest part
of an urge to live to the death ---
with a sword on your hip and a cry on your lips
Dance with the WarChild --- Hoorah.
WarChild, dance the days and nights away ---
sweet child, how do you do today?

Love Evan's keyboards on this
Thanks for sharing. I had forgotten this song. But back in the day I listened to JT with religious fervour. This particular concept LP moved me with great inspiration to continue in the nuclear freeze movement. Living at ground-zero in the Bal-Wash corridor will do that to you. Nothing like knowing your area was targeted with, at a minimum, eight 20 megaton nukes to get you out of bed in the morning. Everytime I listened to this LP it was a chilling reminder. Not only that, I was but a mile from the agency. But that the cold-war could turn hot in an instant. Peace.
Why oh why is Ian not in the RRHoF?
Pure genius from the start of Tull till now!
Frigging crime that Ian and company don't have the recognition deserved.
I'm 57 and remember the 8 tracks.
Tull fans: rejoice, many like me still out there and WE understand!
Hoorah!
War Child, dance the days and nights away
Sweet child, how do you do today?
When your back's to the wall
And your luck is your all
Then side with whoever you may
Seek that which within lies waiting to begin
The fight of your life that is everyday
Dance with the War Child, the War Child
Hoorah!
War Child, dance the days and nights away
Sweet child, how do you do today?
In the heart of your heart, there's the tiniest part
Of an urge to live to the death
With a sword on your hip and a cry on your lips
To strike life in the inner child's breast
Dance with the War Child, the War Child
Hoorah!
War Child, dance the days and nights away
Sweet child, how do you do today?
WHAT A FUNNY CHORUS: "war child dance the days and dance the nights away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Simply the best!
Barriemore Barlow on drums. what a Legend. I used to go and see Tull for 50p (which everyone thought was extortion) in a pub in Harrow, a suburb of London. ( My Dad bought a three bedroomed semi-detached house for £5,000 and earned £50 per week. Apparently, Ian Anderson was getting £300 per week, which seemed like aristocracy money in those days.)
1974 revisited yes indeed, my girlfriend Deanna McMiller and I won are senior High School dance contest too this gem of Celtic progressive rock number..Aye we did hoorah..
exaltation.
OK it's now official: Every wedding held in Scotland must have this song as part of it...
mi primer disco de este genio y su grupo para mi de lo mejor
Tal cual...
A transcendent Celtic prog rock anthem.
This is pure genius - so triumphant!
The moment I realized that bagpipes were cool .....
Thanks for this walk into history ... in 1974 a finished my
A- level and had to do my national service for 18 month in the army ... me and all of my friends this time were really great Tull fans ... now I like Muse (saw the Drones Tour live) ... but what a surprise: the old tunes are great forever ... thanks for your channel and best regards
Muse? Really? Well, now that's a pity :(
This is one of those "This Saved My Life" Albums in college,,,
I get you!
Aye laddies, this song gets me blood up, whena I hear it I want to grab a war club and bash in the heads of the McPhearson clan, such good fun.
**Klan....it's not English..it's Scottish English..

Aye from one Irishman too another thank you for posting the lyrics...
Yes 1974 the year of war child and goodbye to Nixon and saw Tull at the Baltimore civic center , was I ever that young ?,
yea a long time ago rip glenn
I saw Tull perform this album live in 1974. Mind blowing I was 13 or 14. First rock concert.
Marcha marcial como lo es todo el album pienso que es el climax. En español: HURRA!!!
excellent album
bobelaviador oh yeah
Barrie Barlow on Drums ......how good is he .....fantastic ✅
I read that John Bonham once called Barlow the best drummer in England. Mind you, this was an England that contained, among others, Keith Moon, Ginger Baker, Carl Palmer and, oh yeah, himself.
Maybe he was just being generous though. ;-)
Ian Anderson you are a GENIUS lyrically and musically
John Bonventre Absolutely
Mozart and Beethoven ......would stand with bowed heads in appreciation of Ian Anderson .
You can take the rock star out of Scotland, but you can't take Scotland out of the rock star. Great tune from a very underrated album, as others have said. Yes, I have it on vinyl.
@Mark Engel The RRHOF, really now this Irishman agree bunch of goobeshite eejects. This is a gem of song one my favorites from the 1970s.Bono is just an embarrassment too Ireland..
@Mark Engel The HOF doesn't deserve them. At least they won't sit next to the innumerable no-talent assclowns (Yes excluded) who populate the HOF.
@argel bargel Argle, this song is written and sung with flat out passion.
Ian should have a statue erected for everything he has given us! Age 57.
great song, flute at its best, intensamente bueno....

@Got twice wear That's only your're opinion no Celtic blood...it show's...
2:59 makes me want to find a store that sells kilts.
One of his best songs off of this very under rated TULL LP.
I love Ian Anderson's voice.
tuttt99 yeah sure
Wonderful piece!
Time to take out your Claymore and hack some haggis with "Rob Roy"
Love this album!!

@Jacqui Brooks I'm in your camp. there is something gorgeous about this album
Jacqui Brooks me 2
for some reason at 2:22 and 2:33 I can hear a melody that is similar to PFM's "Celebration", great song
To be played at a volume setting of 8, and if your speakers can handle it, 10!
