Jethro Tull - Back-Door Angels Lyrics
In and out of the front door, ran twelve back-door angels.
Their hair was a golden-brown ---
they didn't see me wink my eye.
`Tis said they put we men to sleep with just a whisper,
And touch the heads of dying dogs --- and make them linger.
And sweep all the country clean with pressed and scented wild-flowers.
They grow all their roses red, and paint our skies blue ---
drop one penny in every second bowl ---
make half the beggars lose,
why do the faithful have such a will to believe in something?
And call it the name they choose,
having chosen nothing.
Think I'll sit down and invent some fool ---
some Grand Court Jester.
And next time the die is cast, he'll throw a six or two.
Her hair was a golden-brown ---
she smiled and I think she winked her eye.

Donald Tramp keep up the great work 👌
Genius...
Puts me in a total progressive rock trance.
I'm so happy to see others appreciate this uncommon Tull composition.
Their uncommon time signatures too
Martin Barre is so good in this song. I think this is probably the hardest rock song Jethro Tull plays, I never want the solo to end.
Intro to THE MOUSE POLICE , Live Burstin out incredible and the Intro to Minstrel in the Gallery , the album version not the single , there's so many though
Their hardest? Gotta be something from Aqualung--Hymn 43, Cross-Eyed Mary, Aqualung...
Some of the band’s best playing on this song, especially Barre.
Fucking epic.
Best in the world
One of their best ... but where's the winking eye?
She winked her eye....
Fucking epic.
Why do the faithful have such a will to believe in something, and call it the name they choose, having chosen nothing. Genius. Thank you for the music.
Ian's attack on Religion , I love it
@Chris Manzi I used to love that line too...when I was young & nihilistic. I know better now.
Chris Manzi No, it's an attack on the kind of Churchianity that is expressed in post-modern palaces like the Crystal Cathedral, that are designed for maximum fleecing of the masses. Some of that money has to be put into something large, shiny, and spectacular.
Think I'll sit down and invent some foo...Some grand court jester!
LMAO love it

"NO WE'RE NOT DONE YET! KEEP PLAYING!!!"
"What?"
"*KEEP PLAYING!!!*"
It cuts off the last word of the song, not to mention the jam at the end.... Boo!
The "jam at the end" is the intro to the next song.
But it does cut off the last word...."eye."
@Mike Foley It is the first word of the next track. It's divided weird.
