Jethro Tull - A New Day Yesterday Lyrics
My first and last time with you
and we had some fun.
wenT walking through the trees, yeah!
And then I kissed you once.
Oh I want to see you soon
It was a new day yesterday
but it's an old day now.
Spent a long time looking
for a game to play.
My luck should be so bad now
to turn out this way.
Oh I had to leave today
just when I thought I'd found you.
It was a new day yesterday

John Evan, keyboards, piano and jokes. His name must be written with capital letters.
Incredible Jethro Tull. Ian Anderson and his mates made a new path.

STAND UP
BENEFIT
are UNBELIEVABLE
Clear and great potential for Ian Anderson and the band on this track!
great song, unfortunately led zeppelin released their album the same week, but Toni Iommi went on to be the lead man for Black Sabbath
A seminal step in Tull's evolution combining blues with early prog. Many Tull fans may disagree but Benefit was kind of a mistep moving back 2 steps back and 1 step forward (prog baby steps). Culminating with Aqualung and then their masterpiece Thick.
Les Paul sounds good.♡♡♡
🤦🏾♂️such filthy fire uhhhhh
this band was competing with the beatles and rolling stones. I guess that is why they were so good and so underated at the same time.
Fez parte dos meus primórdios musicais, lá por 1985
Very unrated group. As far as I'm concerned, right up there with the best.
There isn't enough goddamn flute in music anymore! (and yes I know about Lizzo)
Laguna Beach hippies 1970. First heard at Sound Spectrum records Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, summer of 1970. We were vacationing there at the height of the So Cal hippie movement.
Rockin'
tis wos just a epic era
Ian Anderson the best !
From the live album Bursting Out Ian Anderson’s intro to this song. “It was a new day yesterday but by God....IT’S AN OLD DAY NOW!”
Colliding with Cream and Black Sabbath.
fantastica band, album favoloso....!
Epic drumming by Clive bunker
What a wonderful Time. What an Era.
It's been a long time since a band called The Next Big Thing was this innovative & had the talent & training to back it up.
Fue reencontrarme con mis años mozos ja ja ja. Que catarata de recuerdos!!!, compartidos con mis amigos, escuchando a este grupo. Hermoso
Saw them 11x. Named my son Ian. Played their music at my sister's funeral and will probably play at mine. In 72 my sister and soon to be wife stopped at a convenience store for papers and some roadies gave them back stage passes thinking they were alone. I did get to meet the band and briefly see Ian Anderson's back. lol Anyway, big Tull fan from the beginning.
My two favorite albums.
Stand up and Benefit. They're The BEST.
I'm a drummer and if you listen carefully this song is actually a waltz - written in 3/4 time. Genius!!!!
Guy next door to me in SUNY Cortland dorm played Stand Up 16 hours a day and I got sick of it pretty quickly. Didn't listen to it for many years after that. But now I know why he loved it. Part of my 10 favorite albums!
Indeed it was a new day yesterday and it's an old day now....indeed.
Weird how Ian Anderson dislikes hippies.
I picture Hoss from Bononza battling hard to this song
Yeahhhhhh
Way better than 99% of modern bands and their crap music
Is it me or does this Jethro Tull track sound exactly like a track from CREAM??😎🤙
My all time favorite band. Saw them 11x from 69 to 2016. Played their music at my sister's funeral and will probably play it at mine also. Named my son Ian.
Ian Anderson is a musical genius
I can never get this song out of my soul. Which is good because I'll never want to.
You must have the soul of an artist to even think the thought, much less give it voice. Welcome, brother.
joe bonamassa cover brought me here
Oh man That solo sounds Like Iommi! Not only the riff 🔥
solo sounds like something off first sabbath album. Same tone, pull offs, inflections and everything. If somebody played me that and asked who it was I'd have said Iommi if i didn't know better.
Their best and the Clive Bunker kicked ass!
Nobody filled in like Clive Bunker! Maybe Keith Moon?
Bill Bruford.
The Best album 👍
Aqualung by a snotty nose.
I got home from their concert a couple hours ago, it was amazing
I've been listening to this for FIFTY FLAKING YEARS. And it *still* makes me want to go outside and see how fast I can make my ride go.
I cant care anymore.
favorite song by them.
That's some real music
Martin could equal any guitarist around at this time,I saw them in concert when this album was released and it was probably one of the best concerts I have been to ever, having said that I saw Ian Anderson in concert a few years ago and it was probably my worst concert ever.
They appeared on the rock n roll circus
Supernatural ❤️❤️
Yes this Album and This Was was more Blues Cream. influenced. With each Album. the sound became more European Modal and less American Blues ish
Saw Jethro Tull Ian Anderson Live in San Bernardino mind altering enhancements
b man goodness gracious!
That kick bass drum fill!!!!
Dunka dunka dunk!!
I swear the drums like an exact mixture of Ginger Baker and John Bonham!
Guitar is lost ( listen to vinyl at home
You can't thumb down A New Day Yesterday. To good of a song
the sound of the bass is wonderful
Glenn Cornick was the man.
This was my dad's favorite band. I found him dead on the sidewalk when i was coming home from night shift. He also used to play the flute. This band and a lot of their songs have a deeper sentiment after losing him.
The 124 dislikes are Ariana grande and cardi b fans.
Awesome drumming
My all-time favourite album.
Glenn Cornick was a great talent.
Sydney I also saw them 5 times impressive band.........
This is the beginning (and end IMO) of Heavy Metal. We called it Head music back in the day but now is known as progressive.
Masterpiece
BLACK SABBATH AINT IN THESE GUYS LEAGUE i wana see ozzie put his foot on his knee
The drumming in this song is next fucking level.
........1969..........one UNFORGETTABLE YEAR.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A real touch of blues - Jethro (Ian) style.
stand up
these dudes were before blf sab lissen and learn
Sometime I think Stand Up is their best album.
Bought this record first day it came out. Fantastic music. Great guitarplaying.
"But it's an old day now..." Not for me Ian and the lads to this day still ROCK..."And the critics falling over to tell THEMSELVES he's boring and really not awful lot of fun." ...simply idiots....JT has brought us all who ae willing to listen a great deal of fun....
"...and who the hell can he be.........with his lame brain antics and his jummping in the air?!" 🎸😜
This Separates the ROCK CROWD from the SQUARES that LOVE THE Osmonds and the Archies..........!!!!!!!!!!!
A song about courtship marriage and divorce
Absolutly!!! 😜
Great Song
I love this album more and more!
Stand Up is my favorite Tull album...Anderson’s voice had so much character.
Hey! uh...Where is Tony Iommi ??? Oh yeah He went to Black Sabbath
I remember growing up with The Doors in Los Angeles Well I had a friend who was a Tull freak..I must say that nowadays I listen to Tull at a ratio of 10 to 1 over the Doors..
Alan Language Thank you for stating my sentiments on the Doors. I agree they did some interesting stuff, but nothing comes close to the amazing group of Englishmen called Tull.
Doors were a great band too very diff styles
Hey!How come this is not on album for that unsurpassed sound you hear on it?
please re-phrase. if the question was understood you may get an answer!
I'm talking about hearing it on a record album and not on a CD which is a distant 3rd if you get my drift guy!!
Yeh! This is the first track on the vinyl album - I was lucky to find an early 2nd UK pressing green label! -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qg9_gz3JShY- with good headphones- u can hear more
Sublime!
toni iommi was the lead in this track he moved on, sad thing is they released this when led zeppelin release theirs ,same week, history tells the rest
I cut my baby teeth on this! Houston Music Hall circa 1971 or 72...Out fucking standing!
Que sonzera da porra
When I listen to this it also reminds me of an old gravity furnace singing the lead in my dimly lit basement .
Up there with the Gods feel myself lucky enough to have seen Mock Abrahams and son performing in Camden in 93 as close as I got
Jimmy Page - great guitarist, mediocre intellect, lousy critic!
He aint got nothin on Martin Barre
when Jethro Tull played at the silver dome,i was working security and they played this song for a sound check-IT was my own private concert!!!
wow...wow....wow
H O L Y C O W ! ! !
what year was that ? I think I was at that show
Ten Years After is what comes to mind, for me.
During a brief conversation about Tull, someone once told me the first 3 Tull albums weren't interesting because they hadn't "found themselves" and this album was "boring". What a bunch of crap.
One of the most underapppreciated albums in rock history!
Must be about 90 deaf people, disliking the fact they can't hear Jethro Tull play
I'll Take the Old Days Now.
prefiro funck
Just love this song, like to strum it and sing...not this heavy, naturally...
This is their second album. The first album is called "This was Jethro Tull". Don't buy it. They had no control over the album and were taken in by an industry shyster who used them for a fast buck. The first album is awful, but they redeemed themselves with this GREAT second album.
