Jerry Lee Lewis - Lincoln Limousine Lyrics

Well they shot him in the back seat of a Lincoln limousine
Was a great, great leader by the name of Kennedy
He fought for right and freedom, tried to keep this nation clean
But they shot him in the backseat of a Lincoln limousine

And he had ten million dollars, had the world right in his hand
But a twenty dollar rifle cut the life of this great man
He had a lovely wife and two children seldom seen
But they shot him in the backseat of a Lincoln limousine

Well they shot him out in Texas where the longhorn cattle roam
Oh Lord it would have been better if he had stayed at home
This nation is a great place but one fact still remains
That they shot a president in the backseat of a limousine

Well they shot him in the back seat of a Lincoln limousine
Was a great, great leader by the name of Kennedy
He fought for right and freedom tried to keep this nation clean
But they shot him in the backseat of a Lincoln limousine

And this man he did not die on a far and distant shore
He died at Dallas Texas a place not known for war
This country is supposed to be the land of the brave and free
But they shot him in the backseat of a Lincoln limousine

And the moral of the story that it really has no end
It goes to show you never know who's your enemy or your friend

Well they shot him in the back seat of a Lincoln limousine
Was a great, great leader by the name of Kennedy
He fought for right and freedom tried to keep this nation clean
But they shot him in the backseat of that Lincoln limousine

Jerry Lee Lewis Lincoln Limousine Comments
  1. M.... ....

To everyone who believes that Oswald acted alone . . . did you hear what Jerry Lee says on the chorus? "But they shot him in the back seat of a Lincoln limousine." Who shot him? "THEY shot him." They . . . plural . . . meaning a conspiracy. Who needed Oliver Stone in 1991 when the Killer had it all figured out 25 years earlier?

Yes, this is a tribute song JFK. Why does any person write a tribute song ? The MAN wrote it and sang it HIS WAY. Not every song can be GREAT !!! I wish I had the 45 rpm ! I don't hear any garble !! Oh, And here we are 55 years later and guess what ? You can STILL get shot in a Lincoln Limousine !!! ( AMONG OTHER WAYS OF GETTING KILLED )

This song is about the Kennedy Assassination

    +nakedaquabat no shit?

Why Wikipedia states that this is a "Garbled Tribute to Kennedy? Joe Bonomo even said it is "simply weird, so ambiguos and amateurishly written that this is impossible to determine excatly what motivated him to write it"! I don't understand these negative comments on the song.

Neither do I, Marco Di Tonno. The song would not get very high on my Billboard charts but it does not deserve any negative comments, IMO.

@Marcus Brazil Yes, that's very true. Whoops, I should have write "Why does Wikipedia state..." sorry, I'm italian. Hey, we share the same name but in different languages, what a coincidence. Thanks and greetings.
