Jerry Lee Lewis - Breathless Lyrics

If you love me please don't tease if I can hold then let me squeeze
My heart goes round and round my love comes a tumblin' down
You leave me aaah breathless ah
Oh I shake all over honey you know why I am sure love honey it ain't no no lie
Cause when you call my name you know honey I burn like a wooden flame
You leave me ooh breathless ah ooh baby ooh crazy
Honey you're much too much you know I can't love you enough
Well it's alright to hold me tight but when you love me love me right
Oh come on baby now don't be shy this love was meant for you and I
Wind rain sleet or snow I'm gonna get you baby wherever you go
You have leave me aaah breathless ah

Well ooh baby brrr crazy your much to much I can't love you enough
Well it's alright to hold me tight but when you love me love me right
Ah come on baby now don't be shy this love was meant for you and I
Wind rain sleet or snow honey Jerry's gonna get you wherever you go
You leave me aaah breathless ah

On this day in 1958 {March 18th} Jerry Lee Lewis was a guest on the Dick Clark ABC-TV weekday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand', and he became the first singer to perform live on 'Bandstand" and was also the first artist to sing three songs on one episode of the show...
He performed "Breatless", "Great Balls of Fire", and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On"...
At the time "Breathless" was at #11 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, the following week it would peak at #7* {for 1 week} and it spent fifteen weeks on the Top 100...
And also on March 18th, 1958 "Great Balls of Fire" was in it's nineteenth week on the Top 100, and was at position #65...
Between 1957 and 1973 'The Killer' had eighteen records on the Top 100 chart, three made the Top 10, "Whole Lot of Shakin' Goin' On" {#3 in 1957}, "Great Balls of Fire" {#2** for 4 weeks in in early 1958}, and "Breathless...
He had sixty records make Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart, and during a two year period {1968 to 1970} he had eleven straight records make the Country Top 10...
Jerry Lee Lewis will celebrate his 83rd birthday this coming September 29th {2018}...
    * According to Billboard, the week "Breathless" peaked at #7 it was tied at that position with "Don't" by former Sun Records-label mate, Elvis...
** The four weeks that "Great Balls of Fire" was at #2, the #1 record for those 4 weeks was "At the Hop" by Danny and the Juniors...

It was one with only Jerry & the drummer. It was either this one, Great Balls of Fire or his first big hit. Isn't it crazy, I knew that song since the early 60s but in this very moment I can't for the world remember it. Gotta go to a place for Altzeimers light (or heavy?) I Dunno. Anyway, shows you only need a pno & dms to makea classic Rocker. No twice pno or a host of axmen.

    r.... j....

Great Balls of Fire and Crazy Arms were done with pno and drms. Breathless and High School confidential were played with guitar and bass.

Jerry Lee...sheer talent & last survivor of "sun records"

  16. J.... G....

His Boogie-Woogie piano playing was second to none, and I loved his vocal style. Quite frankly he outperformed everyone else of his genre back in 1957-58...And the competition was first rate: Elvis, Gene Vincent, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, etc...

    J.... G....

Jerrie is first class but dont forget Eddie (Cochran)

    J.... G....

Jane Gold the killer completion was only the king elvis no one else .

Every one else was way below his talent .

    J.... G....

@don james NO WAY. We all loved Elvis, certainly. He looked good, he sang well, he was a lousy actor, and only pretended to play the guitar. And he was king of rock for only one year, 1956-57, and that was good, but it didn't last. When he returned from the army, he became just another pop vocalist singing pop tunes. Those white polyester suits were Terrible looking and they became a stereotype, unfortunately. He could have done better. If you didn't notice, he only did one minute versions of his rock and roll hits later on, and he put more emphasis on pop ballads. He became an updated version of what Sinatra was. Not bad, but far from being the "king" of rock and roll, because he certainly wasn't. On the other hand, Jerry took over in 1957-58 and kept Rockin' to this day, only to be interrupted by the bigotry of people that dont understand that Southerners get married at a younger age than some other people do.

    When rock actually rocked...

    D.... ....

+DuckTalesWooHoo1987 What about Led Zeppelin? They rocked pretty good

    D.... ....

+jimmy page No comparison - apples and oranges. L.Z. are on a whole different level - different, not better.

    D.... ....

@Hugh Martell i dont know about that. Led Zep invented a musical genre

    D.... ....

LZ was good, but they broke up 37 years ago. But where were they back in 1958? The Yardbirds hadn't even formed yet!

    D.... ....

Duck tales was most likely refering to todays music.

  27. J.... G....

The best piano player of all time!

  28. D.... L....

For a white guy to play barrelhouse piano with that boogie woogie black feel and to do it so originally really knocked me out back when I was a Little Richard and Fats Domino fan back in the late '50's.  The guitar sols were tasteful, too - back then when they were only allowed 12 bars to solo in.   This song is a wild example of the best of those days. You had to live back then to understand the sexual abandonment that black music introduced to white culture.  Jerry Lee was one burnin' hot rebel rocker, and he said it all with this recording..  One in a million?  No.  One in 25 million. It's all in that piano.  Without that barrelhouse blues style, Chuck Berry's songs wouldn't have been so enigmatic.  Without the piano the blues takes second stage to rock-a-billy country with the other '50's white acts.  Not so with Jerry Lee.  Juke joint, ticklin' the keys, blues.

    D.... L....

+Don Lackritz would you be surprised if a black would be able to play Wagner? I dont get the point of your first sentence, what a fucking dimwit you are

    D.... L....

+norman campbell Yeah, because racial dynamics had nothing to do with the genesis of Rock and Roll. Let me spell out that I'm being sarcastic because you just might be too stupid to pick up on it on your own. PC tool.

    D.... L....

Don Lackritz you hit it right on the head

    D.... L....

They were All good. Black and white. The beauty of it was they complimented each other and respected each other's style. Music has no lines to cross. The great equalizer.
