Jennings, Waylon - Where Would I Be Lyrics

Well, I guess I've been blessed with good luck and fortune
All that I have is more than enough
I've tried to work hard but it ain't been easy
But compared to most it ain't been too rough.

I've had it all Lord knows
I'm thankful the life that I lead is some kind of dream
I've got buses and trucks and stuffs that all make loud noises
Why I even own things that I ain't never seen.

And it fills me with pride when I hear them say
There goes a good ol' boy who made it through
I count my blessings with each of your kisses
When you add it all up where would I be without you.

You helped me along like an angel of mercy
My nature is such that I could've strayed
But your tender love has always controled me
Where others would leave you always have stayed.

And it fills me with pride when I hear them say
There goes a good ol' boy who made it through
I count my blessings with each of your kisses
When you add it all up where would I be without you.

Where would I be without you...

Waylon sure loved his Jessi! It seems like he could barely get through this song without breaking down - so overcome with emotion.
I read that Waylon wrote this song for Jessi shortly after she had helped him quit his cocaine habit “cold turkey”. He always credited her with saving his life.

Waylon Jennings was the best of the best, and what makes him so great, is every song he sang the way he sang it,his voice and just the the or better yet the true grit and roughness in it,he would pull u in the song and actually feel the hurt,or joy,or whatever hes expressing..the first time i heard waylon jennings i was 4 yrs old riding with my uncle in his ole 72 cutlass and i remember it so well Don Williams just got done singing on the radio and he had the 8 track tape player and he said josh reach behind ur seat and hand me a tape to play,i just reached around opened the case he had and just pulled out whatever my hand could reach and handed it to him and next thing i hear is The Only 2 Things In Life That Make It Worth Livin and ive been a die hard Waylon Jennings fan ever since and that was in 79.....Then as i got older and started understanding his music and knew more about him, especially after he got sober,it made just a bigger fan,i got on drugs and alcohol at a early age and didnt let up till 5 yrs ago and it was the hardest thing ive ever done, and the fact this man kicked it without help of a rehab, but with the of the lady that was by his side right or wrong...Forever a fan

  25. T.... C....

This is for my special lady

  26. A.... M....

  29. e.... w....

It has a lot of meaning to his song here,And he is talking through his heart. And i can't believe that someone didn't like this video.Who ever that was i don't think there hearing it and hearing him sing his heart out. This song has more power then his heart -Eric

    e.... w....

+ eric willl, Thanks, Eric. Such a beautiful way of saying it! This is perhaps my favorite of Waylon's songs.

  30. C.... A....

    Damn Waylon was a gem

    C.... A....

    koltornen poopsockseses I

His voice sounds a bit weak here and why? He is pouring his heart out to Jesse. This was just after he got clean and I think he was so grateful( and surprised) that Jesse stuck with him. Never seen him so vulnerable, just love this guy. If read his bio, this song has even more power.

    T.... P....

Tommy Petersen I think his voice was still coming back and It wasn't quite back to what it once was yet, I think that's why it sounds a little weak.

    T.... P....

I do believe that Waylon had quite a depth to him that he hid pretty successfully while he was on drugs. One of the reasons his voice sounds a bit weak is that when he quit cocaine he went from one or two packs of cigarettes a day to five or six. That would choke anyone's voice!

    T.... P....

Tommy Petersen I saw that long ago!! “Every man deserves a Jessi” that’s why I wrote a song called “You’re my Jessi” it’s on YouTube!!! She was a Fantastic person!!

    T.... P....

@Page Ribe nah, I don't buy that cigarette stuff, because he put out many great songs after cocaine.... and he had a second career as a highwayman. Songs Like.......
    Never could toe the mark
    The Conversation
    Highwayman
    Sight for sore eyes
    Where corn don't grow
    Wrong
    The Eagle
    America
    Drinking and Dreaming
    Rose in Paradise
    Rough and rowdy days
    Lucille
If ole hank could see us now
    Angel eyes
    Etc....

    T.... P....

@Tommy Petersen I grew up to my daddy listening to Waylon. I always come and listen to Waylon when I want to spend some time thinking about my dad who died in 2011.

  32. L.... L....

    Love Waylon and Jessi!
