Jennings, Waylon - No Regrets Lyrics

I know your leaving's too long overdue
For too long I've had nothing new to show you
Goodbye dry eyes I've watched your plain feet off west to the moon
It felt so strange to walk away alone.

No regrets, no tears, goodbye
Don't want you back
We'd only cry, again
Say goodbye, again.

[Instrumental]

The hours that were yours echo like empty rooms
The toughts we used to share I now keep alone
I awoke last night and spoke to you not thinking you were gone
And it felt so strange to lie awake alone.

No regrets no tears goodbye
Don't want you back
We'd only cry, again
Say goodbye, again.

[Instrumental]

Our friends have tried to turn my nights to day
Strange faces in your place can't keep the ghost away
Just beayond the darkest hour just behind the dawn
It feels so strange to leave my life alone.

No regrets no tears goodbye
Don't want you back
We'd only cry, again
Say goodbye, again...

I'd like to know the story behind that picture of him and Johnny Cash where Waylon had a pistol on.

    Tom Rush is the author

Didn't Lee Greenwood write this song? His version is on YouTube also. It sounds good.
But I have to admit, I like Waylon Jennings' better. Can hear the words plainer than his.

    c.... ....

    No, Tom Rush did.

Truly one of my all time favs from Ol' Hoss. Nice post and 100% agreed, the crackles only add to it.

Been looking for this for years, haven't heard this since I was about 13 or 14 listening to my mom's old tapes and records. Great song and brings back some great memories. Thanks so much for uploading this

O.k., so Walker Bros. & Tom Rush, but who wrote it? By the way, without crackles and pops, it wouldn't be real. My husbands first 45 rpm was on acetate. His mama had it forever, but as it played it basically disinegrated. Thanks Bobby for All the great Waylon you always have up. Love ya!

@teddie488 And then there were Old Dogs!
OK if you're looking for unusual try this - I think around 2001 - 02 Waylon guested on Don Imus' radio program on WFAN...and he was warm, funny, painfully honest and I think he played a song live. (Memory is a bit fuzzy can't recall the name of the song) He spoke about his amputation - but what an attitude. He accepted it as one of his life's challenges.

@teddie488 Have you heard the soundtrack for the 1970 motion picture - Ned Kelly? Waylon delivers.

  21. o.... ....

What I love about Waylon is that he sounds good just singing with a guitar and nothing else. Love the pics as well. Thanks

I like the guitar on this one...not his usual "sound"....and his voice is great!
