Much respect for Waylon always, but I like Buffett's original better. Waylon's version is too fast/busy. Starts out as a ballad but becomes midtempo. Not sure why he did it, but it detracts from the song...IMO.

I got an album that had this song on it for 5 bucks in the value bin at wal mart. It's called "All American Country", maybe that'll help.

I think this is my favorite J B song. Waylon has a lot of great memory songs for me too and this rendition was great to hear. Thank you for posting it. I've never heard him sing this before.

There is nothing like him. I am a parrot head but even JB would admit that Waymore had a good take on this classic. There were a couple of production errors though. The instrumental change at the beginning of the second verse was distracting and the tag of the girls voices was not good. But, Waylon was his normal near perfect, one take self. Damn, I miss him so. If you want to hear great Waylon interpretation listen to "Learning the Game" off the Buddy Holly tribute album. It is fine.

I'm a Parrothead AND a Waylon fan. This is nicely done, but I have the original somewhere (not bad for an 18-year-old, huh?) they both have their ups and downs in comparisons. I just wish Jimmy and Waylon could have done a duet on this one.
