Sadly there seems to be a lot of hatred in the comments. Katherine is classically trained. As for her singing we will all have our opinions, if you don't like it, don't listen. She has a fantastic range and when you hear her sing in Welsh, she brings so much feeling to any Welsh song she sings, just as she is here with her rendition of Gravity. For those how are criticising her, if you can do better, then please post your own recording. Again, we are all entitled to our own opinions.

Katherine never says she is "an opera singer". She is a classically trained singer. She is a crossover singer. She sings what she wants to sing. People who don't like her singing should not listen to it. Please quit trying to educate us to the narrow, dogmatic world you wish to live in. Apples don't taste better than oranges. Some will 'like' one more than another person may like it. Taste is like beauty - it is in the eye of the beholder.

To razzamatas:  Well said, I am an opera fan who has 'heard them all' in the last 50 yrs.  Maria Callas is my Ultimate, but I appreciate the crossover singer who can do classical and pop, introducing people to a whole new world of music.  The opera snobs make me furious in there high handed comments against singers like Katherine and others.  How many of the opera snobs have ever attended the Royal Academy of Music?

@***** Have you heard her say these things or is she just being quoted?  IMO I don't think she should sing in complete operas, she is better as a recitalist, or as a soloist.  Especially now, she has carved a nice niche as a crossover artist and should continue in that vein.

@Charles Henry She has NEVER sung in an opera. She sings opera arias(O Mio Babbino Caro, a dreadful Nessun Dorma etc)but she's not an opera singer she's a pop singer.

I concur, Apples and oranges, but I love both in this case. She will continue to do one niters because they pay better than extended engagements. As long as she is in demand she will play the one niters. She can make as much in one nite as doing a whole week or better doing an opera or club.. This business about waiting until her voice matures after 30 is agency talk. It's like saying she has to wait until she grows into her boobs (Adds 30 pounds) before she can do opera. She is pushing 40 now and fully capable of doing opera, but she will wait until things slow down to do that and it's economically advantages to do so. She will work for a long time if she wants. does it really matter in the slightest? i think not. if someone sings a song and people like it, that is the important thing - not technicalities. the real measure of success is in album sales - and hayley and katherine appear to be doing quite well. if someone sings something you call "opera" and get no sales, it is a very little comfort for them. most people in the world do not like traditional opera singers, they are usually fat ugly boring and make a sound like my cat does when hurt.

She's 31 and hasn't started her opera career yet. Most spend their 20s in training for opera. She did not. Ask any knowledgeable opera buff about Katherine and they will laugh in your face. I can't listen to her trying sing an opera aria she is awful. Listen to Jackie Evancho sing an opera aria then listen to Katherine sing one. There is no comparison.

Beautiful song incredibly beautiful woman. Her face is perfect. She sends chills all over my body from just looking at her. I don't believe a more beautiful woman ever lived upon this Earth.

I much prefer her vibrato on these light pop tunes. When Kath sings Classical opera arias, her vibrato turns very close and tight like peaks of waves very close together. Even on 'Love Never Dies', Lloyd Webber's great new song, her tight vibrato is heard. I think she is 'forcing' too much which tightens and quickens the vibrato.
