Met her in the streets of Louisiana when she was on a tour of the US. Smoked a fat doobie with her and she walked into the street blindly. Had to get her a vodka tonic to calm her down. Guess the j was laced with something she had a bad reaction to. I walked her to her hotel and we proceeded to strum her guitar and order an abundance of room service while browsing the ppv listings. Ran up quite a bill plus I ended up lifting a few luscious towels from her suite. Great weekend, never liked her music though.

Why don't you write a song about it? Seems like you can tell a story, eagle man.

I'm in love...

This is my favorite of Sarah's songs.  I also like Shankill Butchers.  I watched the 4 part documentary about this very real story of sad and horrific murder and that makes the Butchers song so much more relevant.  But Run Away and Annabelle Lee are my favorites.

I wish she hadn't removed her performance of this at the Transatlantic Music Sessions with Jerry Douglas and Alison Krauss.

That performance was uploaded by Lord Chauncy and got removed with all his other uploads when he got bounced for copyright infringement.  ( I think because of some Austin City Limits uploads).  It's a shame because he put up a lot of good stuff here including recordings of his own.

+Karen Nyere  I spoke to Sarah in person after a recent concert, she had no idea why it was removed (see below).  It certainly was the best version ever, so I bought the TS5 DVD.  But this performance is pretty good.

That thing she's playing is kind of a large mandolin.  From top to bottom it's tuned G D A E like a mandolin.  4 pairs of strings.  I've never seen one before.  I'm learning mandolin and would love to get one.  I forget what they're called.

@michael plourde Probably an octave mandolin, since her web site doesn't mention mandocello.  Most shots in the video show her holding a guitar, though.

Love your art. Love this song. But this video spoils the truer, more dramatic, and much more personal images from my imagination. You don't need this sort of thing. It narrows the potential for personal connection and emotional magic that your music creates. I wish you would expunge this video from the Internet. Your art stands on its own, and very well, indeed. You have a special gift, clearly on display in so many of your songs and sounds.

This video reminds me uncomfortably of a much older video starring Harry Dean Stanton that similarly destroyed the beauty, in my mind's eye, of Procol Harum's song, "Whiter Shade of Pale". I will never get those cheesy images out of my head. For me, that song will be forever polluted.

Luckily, I forced myself to abort viewing this one, but a little bit of cheese managed to slime the celestial beauty previously imprinted on my mind by this captivating song.

Can't wait to see you in Saint Louis. No more videos like this one, please. I do love seeing you play and sing in normal performance videos, though.
