Janis Joplin - Trouble In Mind Lyrics

Trouble in mind, I'm blue
But I won't be blue always,
'Cause that sun is gonna shine in my back door someday

Now all you men's the same
But now I'm old enough to change my name
Lord, that sun's gonna shine in my back door someday

I'm gonna lay my head
On that lonesome railroad line
And let the 2:19 ease my troubled mind

Trouble in mind, I'm blue,
But I won't be blue always
Child, that wind's gonna come and blow my blues away!

Janis Joplin Trouble In Mind Comments

Her voice inspires so much tenderness. Lovely Janis! I do very much enjoy Sister Rosetta Tharpe's version for its cheerfulness, too, but Joplin is special.

Brittany Murphy brought me here ❤️

    Jorma Kaukonen

  8. O.... G....

Goddamn this hits me really hard. Rest in peace Janice.

  9. A.... L....

wiping a tear, love ole Janis. Shame she never felt the earthly love that the world would shower on her if she'd been in a alternate time. She hit the soul in enough beatnik and bold bikers in a perfect mix that her soul was free enough to keep her true gutteral heartbreak and pain ((yet a giggle)) to show that it,too, will pass in good time honey!!

    A.... L....

    Beautifully said!

I'm trying to do this on my electric guitar 🎸

  16. a.... d....

In 1964, with Jorma Kaukonen on guitar - while his wife, Margareta, was typing a letter to her parents in Sweden - in one take, this was recorded in the house they rented on Fremont Street in Santa Clara, CA; Janis was only twenty-two years old.

No Computers, DAW (Digital Audio Workstation), Audio Interface, Studio Monitors, Cables, Pop Filters, Bass Traps, Acoustic Panels, Diffusers, Reflection Filters, Monitor Isolation Pads, Rack Mounts, Power Conditioners, Microphone Preamps, Headphone Amps, Monitor Management System, Virtual Instruments (software), MIDI Controllers, Electronic Drum Kit, Control Surface, Software/Plugins, Snake Cables, Direct Box, Digital Converters, Master Clocks or Analog Hardware. Just a 1960's portable tape recorder. And this song penetrates the soul.

    What's that tell you?

Tiff me too! This is probably my favorite vocal sound of Janis with her accent is so authentic and chill bump inducing-- the keystrokes cause me to tap my feet and dance differently than if were absent( like it belonged there for a cosmic reason!!)

Janice started out her career singing blues..

    D.... D....

    Absolutely! :)

    D.... D....

Janis was blues - even rockers (Combination of the Two) became bluesy when she sang.

So much emotion in her voice.

  44. U.... C....

Robert Johnson - "Sweet Home Chicago"

  45. j.... ....

Meet Gika Bacci, revelation of Blues in Brazil.
With influences from Janis Joplin she enchants with its magnificent voice.
The front of the Rod of Blues she brings to the music scene a differential to delight the ears.

Rod of Blues and Gika Bacci.

  56. s.... ....

When she was a teen she'd bomb around Port Arthur with her few friends and they'd sing to radio--all except Janis. When asked why she didn't, she started to. They stopped.

  69. f.... ....

I used to have this as a bootleg. Much of the album had a typewriter in the background. Perhaps an early rehearsal next door to an office?
