Jan & Dean - The Restless Surfer Lyrics
I can't settle down on just one shore
To ride the wild surf
Is what I'm living for
'Cause I hear a voice deep down inside
Other girls, other waves to ride"
I'm just a guy with time on my hands
Surfin' round the world
Seein' other lands
But I hear a voice deep down inside
"There are other girls, other waves to ride"
So just like a vagabond
I've got to see all there is to see
There's wandering in my soul
That'll carry me to my goal
Then I'll find my destiny
Someday I'll find a girl who will be mine
Then I'll settle down
In just one town
'Cause I'll hear a voice whispering to me
"There are no more waves, no more girls to see
No more waves, no more girls to see"
No more waves for me
No more girls to see

Great tune! Happy memories!
"Other girls to ride ?" How did that get past the censors of the day ?
Best Jan & Dean track. The piano sound is very similar to the beginning of Why Do Fools Fall In Love (with intro) by the Beach Boys also from 1964

JAN & DEAN NEED TO BE IN THE HOF!
I love this song. This version was the first I heard, but I was surprised when I found that the original version is from the composer, Gary Zekley. The original version has a different lyric and title (Other Towns, Other Girls), without the "surf" theme. Both versions has the same backing-track.
That is why I lie the instrumental because the singers spoil it...
Great Surf Pop tune! I know the boys are a little flat on this one, but it's a wonderful tune.
Nice post. but do you have the instrumental version? if so please post. Thank you Gene :)
Why does everyone like this track? I mean it's good musically and lyrically speaking, but Dean Torrence's voice so so out of pitch.
Yes I thought it was WAY out of tune!!!!
Great track. Thank you for posting..just wondered if you have the intrumental/backing track to this? I know it is on one of their albums..but cannot remember which one..lol.
