To me, this song isn't so much about 'God' but more of how everything happens for a reason. I do not blv in this God as in the christian faith or the church and all and I don't see this song in that way. Personally, I see this song as sayng everythign occurs for a reason. WE just need to work with it and not just give up because of these changes. Life is unexpected, we could be healthy one day and be ill the next. What we make of the experience is more important than the experience itself.
