Jamie Cullum - Catch The Sun Lyrics
Every day it comes to this
Catch the things you might have missed
You say, get back to yesterday
I ain't ever going back
Back to the place that I can't stand
I'm always misunderstood
Pulled apart and ripped in two
But I miss the way you lie
Catch the sun, before it's gone
Here it comes, up in smoke and gone
Catch the sun, it never comes
Cry in the sand, lost in the fire
I never really understood
But I miss the way you lie
I've always been up and down
Never wanted to hit the ground
But I miss the way you lie
Catch the sun, before it's gone
Here it comes, up in smoke and gone
Catch the sun, it never comes
Cry in the sand, lost in the fire

Jamie Cullum Catch The Sun Comments
love you Jamie. I have all your music!
A few years ago I worked for this company that polished concrete floors at different Home Depot’s. We drove all the way down to Florida and worked around Miami for several months. Well this song played in the store and it always stuck with me since.
Shopping at Marshalls brought me here. Love it.
Sounds like an Elton John hit..., Great Song!!!👍👍
Now I want him to sing Black-Hole Sun ...
i only like the hook
I caught this one on the piped-in music at work (a sheltered town, we are) and wrote down the hook "Catch The Sun". Didn't know the actual name or by who. EXCELLENCE!
The ONLY redeeming thing about my part-time retail gig is the music. I have Shazammed some awesome songs--including this one.
I couldn't agree with you more, especially when your short staffed, people making excuses to call in or just pull a no call no show, and you end up having to do the work of three or four people it's the music that helps get you through those shifts!
Great voice and music!!
I like his Voice in this version!
really good cover version
As someone from California who no longer lives there...this song brings back amazing memories of my beautiful, sun-soaked state. I miss those beaches, man.
No place like home in Cali!
An okay job, i guess. One of the greatest songs ever written. Doves. :D
Doves-catch the sun :D
i THOUGHT i was hearing two versions of this at work. mystery solved...
O cara é bom, tem futuro !! E essa música é a cara dos anos 70.
Lassi Valtosen päivän suositus fb:ssa:) ihan kiva .
who do u love? Bieber? Gaga?
the one who's ill is you, kid!
Great song! His and the Doves!
Are you demented? The piano notes are outstanding!
I like Jamie Cullum but two forced covers he should have never done include "Lover you should have come over" and this.
my brother-in-law committed suicide. I heard the Doves' version shortly after. I always thought that if Bill had heard it things might have turned out different, maybe a space time continuum shift

Jamie will bring people to the Doves and that's a good thing. thanks Jamie
I heard this song in a Jack in the Box and thought, oh shit, The Doves covered this guy? They did it way better. Then I realized this was a cover. C'mon dude. Get a set of balls.
Not a bad cover by the way....
heard this song in price chopper
thanks price chopper
In the immortal words of John Lennon."Immitation is the highest form of flattery".
This version of Catch The Sun always plays in Party City, where I work. I didn't know it was a cover until I looked it up. I love both versions, but I like this one just a liiiiittle bit more.
@papovavirus EXACTLY. this is melancholic bull shit. This guy sings like he's never even stubbed his toe, or felt any sort of emotional response to anything. music for the medicated masses...
he took the piss right out of the Doves, I hate this cover, they play it in CVS stores for christ's sake. I hope Jez and Andy are making a pretty penny off this at least.
I hear this song at like every fast food restaurant I go to, after a while it just stuck. It's not bad at all though
@TheElliesaurus Or they are grinches...:)
I appreciate JC bringing this song to another audience. His rendition was certainly competent and his vocals were particularly well performed if the piano melody was a little too light spirited. That said, this version doesn't hold a candle to the Doves original.
@TheElliesaurus I guess that was bc he sat on the piano ...I'm just sayinn
Well, he's surely really good... but this version lacks the pathos and "suffering" of the original by Doves... that's my opinion, at least... awesome track, tho'
Happy Birthday Jamie Cullum (August 20)
11 dislikes? Well obviously they live in the Antarctic.
Love the little groove on the drums.
This is the song I have to hear every goddamn day at the Supermarket I work at. They play it EVERYDAY and I hate it. The tone of the song is awful and so is the voice. Little did I learn that The Doves version of this song was actually decent.
Ok never mind, I listened to the Doves original version again and I like it too. Both versions to me can set a very nostalgic mood.
I heard this version first before knowing who sung it espeically who sung it originally. I like this version better than the Doves original version though. This guy seem to slow down the song a bit, if that makes any sense. The only reason I actually like this song is because I worked at bed bath and beyond and at least 5 times durning my shift this version played, DAILY. Brings back memories of working with some awesome people.
It's average, VERY average. I wonder what the Doves thought?
NO! BAD! WORST!
Just when I was wondering where the White Stripes guy had got to...
; ) TGF
He did a serviceable job here. I like the Doves version, too.
I listened to the dove's version to see what the fuss is about and I turned it off before the song was finished! THIS is the better version!!
The Muzak where I work added both this and the Doves version at the same time, about 4 months ago. I never heard either one in my life, but when I heard the Doves I would have sworn that was the Foo Fighters. I think I like that one more actually. Theatrical > Irregular beat. Actually, theatrical > everything.
Think he cant do covers? Listen to his cover of Rihanna's please don't stop the music!
you will not be disappointed! best cover ever! Better than the original! Go Jamie!!!!
Who did this song first The Doves or Jamie Cullum?
I like this one better, just for the pacing and the chorus.
i personally like this version better, especially because of the piano
catch the sun!
my mouth has no other opportunity than smile when the refrain comes!
I happen to like both versions for different reasons. I I like the original because it brings back some summertime memories of me in high school. The Jamie Cullum version I like because of its jazzy interpretation.
yea... he NEVER wrote those words....
I really like this.
very cool
btw 5 stars!
I luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuurve Jamie Cullum! The song is great!
