Can u believe that a much younger Colin James played this live on the David Letterman show and got nowhere in the U.S.? Yet that lackluster Brian Adams took off? Compare the two..Adams isn't even in the same ballpark concerning raw talent.

Taste is subjective, and as with the mean distribution of the majority in nearly any system, the bulk of what you find is average. The average listener does not have elevated requirements, therefore it's really to be expected that Colin never gathered popular favor. Bryan Adams isn't that bad, but I know what you're saying. Mediocrity has throngs of followers, in every area of life.

You know you can compliment a Canadian musician and not have to bash another at the same time. Adams has written some amazing songs. Tons actually. He also has worked with some of the biggest names in mainstream music. Tina Turner. Sting. Rod Stewart...to name a few. If you mean Adams doesnt rip solos on the guitar like James, I agree. Your expectations from musicians seem a little high tho. You could probably agree that Katy Perry sucks now. But she started out writing songs, playing acoustic guitar, and singing just like every other "musician." And she wasnt that bad.

Q107 in Calgary used to be a real quality classic rock station. They had the Beatles Brunch and the would often play entire album sides cuz they wanted to. Lots of appreciation for the music. Not any more ☹

...Definitely love the sound of Colin James...reminds me a touch of Stevie Ray Vaughan..But Colin has his own distinctive voice and the whole musical package is "awesome".   I agree with Sens23Bruins..very underrated ...Love his Stuff!
