Jackson, Alan - They Call Me A Playboy Lyrics

They call me a playboy
As I'm making my rounds
Chasing the bright light
Of each night spot in town

Though I never show it
My heart's breaking in two
They may call me a playboy
But I'm just lonesome for you

I once had a real love
That was when I had you
Now I'll never feel love
With somebody new

This false front I'm wearing
Is just to cover my blues
They may call me a playboy
But I'm just lonesome for you

I once had a real love
That was when I had you
Now I'll never feel love
With somebody new

This false front I'm wearing
Is just to cover my blues
They may call me a playboy
But I'm just lonesome for you

They may call me a playboy
But I'm just lonesome for you

This version is pretty flat compared to Wynn.....who by the way, owned Bakersfield before Buck and Merle.

    n.... w....

Wynn was the Godfather of the Bakersfield Sound. He's best known for his 1967 hit "It's Such A Pretty World" as well as the Top 5 hit from the 50's "The Waltz Of The Angels." Wynn topped the charts in the late 50's with "Wishful Thinking" and had a Top 5 with "Playboy" in 1960. He also scored a Top 10 again in 1962 with "Another Day, Another Dollar."

Wynn took a backseat to Buck Owens in the early 60's and faded into obscurity in after 1968. He was an amazing songwriter and singer and deserves way more credit than he's given.

sounds more like ronnie dunn.  let's see if ronnie dunn released this tune.  hmm?

    H.... K....

    this is clearly Alan

    H.... K....

    oh I get it.

    H.... K....

    Never heard that from Ronnie.

    H.... K....

    JUST ALAN.

  11. H.... S....

Yeah, Buck Owens recorded the absolute best version of this song! Tim, I really like your videos, especially the Merle Haggard tune you recorded. You should come play at Hanks in McKinney.

Not sure what you mean by Wynn Stewart (who?), but I'll assume you're not an ignorant idiot since you have so many good videos. I'm a big fan of Alan Jackson's material from the 1980s up to 1999, but Wynn Stewart's music is even better than Alan's. Check out Wynn Stewart's tunes such as Big Big Love, Loversville and Come On. He could do traditional country songs, then go into a full blown rockabilly tune.

I have been a fan of Alan Jackson for a while Hector. Don't get me wrong. The man can sing.

    H.... S....

Sing it honey. You sound good to me.

@hbrookes Of course Alan had talent to start with :)

    t.... ....

    he still does.and always will.

  15. h.... ....

I believe you, The big boy studios can do miracles...look at Taylor Swift. Cant sing a lick..lol

    h.... ....

Taylor is a pop singer now. She just recently released a new pop album last year.

  16. t.... ....

@hbrookes Trust me, it is. This is just before he was fine-tuned by Arista.

    t.... ....

    I believe you.

  17. h.... ....

Im not sure this is Alan Jackson?

    h.... ....

    I'm not sure either.

    h.... ....

This was a demo album he was pitching trying to get a record deal

    h.... ....

    OK Matt.I got it now.

  18. H.... ....

@mrfiddleman I agree one of the great songs of all time!! There is a version of "Playboy" by Eric Huff Clean Cut Country with 5 steel players in it along with Leon Rhoades (original band member of the Texas Troubadours) If you get the chance check it out!

  19. t.... ....

    So sue me :P

    kidding. thanks :)

    t.... ....

    honey,is that really you.

    t.... ....

    go ahead baby.I love it.

  20. m.... ....

This was written by Bob Morris and Eddie Miller, not Wynn Stewart. Wynn had a very good hit on it. It had been recorded a couple times before Wynn did it. One of the all time great country songs.

  21. t.... ....

That's the plan. I only have several more to load and now that I'm off from school, it will happen faster!

    t.... ....

Too cheap, where do you go to school? I was in Buffalo.
