Jackson 5 - One More Chance Lyrics
Everybody loves the star
When hes on the top
But noone ever comes around
When he starts to drop
You stuck through thick and thin
But I was much too busy
Trying to shine
To let your love shine in
Let you slip away
I must have been insane
Stop in the name of love
Dont make me live my life in vain
Give me one more chance
Thats all I ask of you
Just one more chance
Ill make it up to you
Just one more chance
Thats all I ask of you
Ill build you a world for two
Ill make it up to you
Now since Im all alone
Im talking to myself
I know youre out there somewhere
Having fun with someone else
But a distant voice of hope
Echo from within, sayin
(Dont give up)
(Your ship is comin' in)
Though my ships alone
Ill play right to the end
Im crying outside
Heavens door
Wont you let me back in
Youll never know
What Ive been through
Let your love shine in again
This time Ill shine with you

Jackson 5 One More Chance Comments
I remember crystal clear in 1969 this family of 5 kids burst on to the scene like out of nowhere, and right out of the box they put out 4 or 5 singles in a row of such excellent quality that this will never be repeated in the history of rock and roll, as far as I was concerned....I think they all went to number one. 'I Want You Back', 'ABC', 'The Love You Save', 'Mama's Pearl', and 'I'll Be There'....The Beatles did it. But they were a few years older, and they weren't five siblings....P.S. The Beatles were my favorite group...frankm

Love the way on all of their early singles they would reach the end of
their songs like half way through the song, and then all of the them
would sing together kind of bouncing off each other vocally for the long
fade out for another couple of minutes..frankm white kid 61yrs old..Fan
since 1969.
Me and Michael were the exact same age (10) in 1969 And I loved to listen and sing to all the cool music coming out of my little AM transistor radio. The Beatles, The Stones, The 5th Dimension, The Supremes, The Temptations, The Doors.. (FM wasn't Quite invented yet for a few more years)..It was all Fucking great pure Rock and Roll mixed together all on the same radio stations.....Then this new group came on the radio, and The Ed Sullivan show..The Jackson 5..Wow!! The kid's my age, and he must love to listen to and sing music too. But he's doing it on TV, and around the world..I was jealous...No envious..I got all of their 45's up to like 'I'll be there', 'Rockin Robin' and then 'Ben'. You know like up to 1973 or some shit... Then I never paid TOO much attention to his solo career but I loved quite a few of his great songs up until he died..This little 10 yr. old kid was singing songs about girls and relationships with the conviction and experience of like a 25/30 year old guy..And making it fuckin' believable like he experienced it himself...WTF...God bless you Micheal Jackson...frankm White guy...61yrs old..
HEY MAN YOU SAID IT ALLL. AM. FOREVER !!! 🙌👑
@Roger Bowen thanx
I loved that song 'One More Chance'. I think it was the flip side to 'I'll be There', but I liked it better...

Same age as Michael, I don't think this was ever released as a 45, back in the day, but one my favorite. songs.
The magic that was put into their songs is what was so great! To be a youngster and listening to these songs for the first time was incredible! We would play those songs over and over and over again all day!

I agree all of them!
THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS FROM THE J5.LOVE THEM
James Jamerson and Jackson Five just incredible.!
So sad that all the Jackson 5 grandchildren have decided to eradicate and kill the rich dark, beautiful blackness that made the Jackson 5 famous and help white supremacy commit black genocide..
jesus christ

Scratch Kanawatch thank you so much for posting the words! I love this song and JUST heard it today for the first time...it’s September 2019...I should be of myself!
I heard this song when I was about 6 or 7 and I have always had a heart for the "One More Chance" from 1:36 to the end of the song.
The words to this song is powerful I never really know all the words to this song

I do think mj as a little kid is the best voice I've ever heard
Hi great song summer of 1970
sad. they died out just about 1974. dancing machine was their some what last hit... within year or so they headed to another label. think RCA ,, NOT SURE.. but they parted as the jacksons no longer jackson five .. jermaine remained with motown , being married to gordy daughter'' oh well it last good for them for awhile.. as all groups they come and they go''
Motown were running out of ideas with how to promote and write for them since they were now older into their teens. But to me, they had so many different styles and combos you can do, I would have had them sing more ballads and more original material. I would write more harmonies with Michael and Marlon, Jackie and Jermaine as well. Tito didn't really singing but he would sing as well wit them. I love songs like, "The Boogie Man", "Skywriter," "Coming Home" - Unreleased track from 72 but still amazing. "you Need Love Like I Do" "Buttercup" "All I Do Is Think Of You" "Lucky Day" great gems. Their G.I.T. album was their more funky era style, they wanted more of a dance type music. While I like that album I think it's a alright album. "Lookin' Through The Windows" is my favorite of all of their albums. Granted most of those tracks are recorded either 70-72 but still a underrated album. Gordy wasn't really much involved with the writing and producing soon after 73. So the group began to decline in sales and even Michael's third and fourth solo albums flopped. I love "Forever, Michael"
You can even say "Ben" the album wasn't a hit like his debut. Though the single was very well received but the album lacked in promotion which I don't really understand. So many things you can do with J5.
Their dad took them to Columbia Records in ‘76, I think. Jermaine stayed loyal to Motown, being married to Hazel Gordy at the time and coming into his own as a solo artist. The Jacksons best grooves from that transition time were Shake Your Body Down to the Ground, Heartbreak Hotel/(This Place) Hotel, Show You the Way to Go. The Destiny and Triumph albums re my faves from that era. Then came the Victory Tour, Thriller and Bad, when Mike exploded like a supernova. Icould go on and on.
The Jackson still good for a couple of more yeard.
This was the b side , but I play it more than the a, had to buy several copies. Something about this song couldn't get enough of it.
gary kelly Me tooooo!!!!
It was meant for the Jackson 5 but the Osmonds made it a hit and then the Jacksons remade it if there's the Jacksons turn the song Down
It's on side one man
Always was my favorite Jackson 5 song. Still is!
Everybody loves a star when he's on the top. But no one ever comes around when he starts to drop.
It is true.
Bubba walker prophetic lyrics to his later life amid molestation accusations
This lyric is so prolific to his life, it made me cry
Bull shit MJ was not a molester he was set up by David Geffen!!!
Always love that line....
One of my favorite songs off of the "ABC" album!!!!
I Love this song growing up in the 70's. It's also touching to me because I have a brother was birth/government name is Chance!!!

Dwayne Dishmon i feel ya..wishing i get 1 more chance with love again
Just one more chance....<3
love this song
Great tune should've been a single! Written by the Corporation.
This and "To Know" are my only 1# songs from The Jackson 5. I love their other songs but those two are my type of Ballads. My favorites.
The undisputed champion of bass and the backbone of The Motown Sound: James Jamerson. He definitely was an honorary Jackson brother with his beautiful work on those early J5 albums!
wooooooooooooo, that BASS starting @ 2:08
I like how he put the juggernaut on his lines at the end!
Bentom86
I wonder why they just didn't teach Tito or Jermaine those FUNKY baselines.......
I don't think that's James Jamerson on bass. This track was cut in Los Angeles, James Jameson was still in Detroit with the Funk Brothers in 1970.
l 💘 song
you now your history

I grew up on the J5. I gotta thing for classic music
I grew up on them too. And I lisren to a few of their songs Everyday. And it's not that you have a thing for classic music. It just means that you've been Blessed with an ear for Great and Beautiful music.😁
I remember listening to this over and over as a 8yr old....playboys on. Nice bassline....
as a child I would always look at the cartoon series hoping they would play this song. the greatest track not released as a single
genobibb I was about to say the same thing! I NEVER missed the Jackson 5 cartoon, it came on Saturdays at 12pm, right after Soul Train in NYC where I grew up, 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂! Great memories!
This and "To Know" are my 1# J5 songs of all time.
George was on the flip side of The Love You Save as I have the 45!

Yes, 777 million chances for MY angel since 1971. I need and love you Michael more than you imagine! We are Forever!
Forgot about this song; The Bernie Mac Show sent me here. R.I.P. Bernie Mac and Michael Jackson; you both are truly missed.
that's funny I was watching the Bernie Mac show and I herd this dope ass song from the Jackson five!!!!!
that's funny I was watching the Bernie Mac show and I herd this dope ass song from the Jackson five!!!!
that's funny I was watching the Bernie Mac show and I herd this dope ass song from the Jackson five!!!!
that's funny I was watching the Bernie Mac show and I herd this dope ass song from the Jackson five!!!!
Same here; just watched the same Bernie Mac episode! All his musical selections remind me of Chicago, and my childhood! I know "the Mac Man" is from Chicago, hate I waited so long to appreciate this sitcom!
If Michael Jackson was asking me for one more chance my answer would be. Yes, you can have a million chance! I love you my angel more than you can ever imagine!
If i had one more chance i would love to see the remaining Jacksons for the first time before i leave this world. I was young when they came to Virginia but now baby I am a 47 year old woman and they are still my IDOLS!!!!!. Love you guys and keep on moving forward.
@dirtydiana9618 Ironically the bible promises a resurrection John 5:28,29 Michael along with all of our of our dead loved will be back but church keeps lying pushing heaven. Yet man WILL live on earth on paradise
Thank u
Check out these 2 as well
Just search with these exact terms here on youtube.
James Jamerson Bernadette Solo
And
Slayd5000 The Jackson 5 - Darling Dear
Slayd5000 has the nicest version from the original record.
Both have always blown me away no matter how many times I listen.
AMAZING & thank you so much
One more chance my angel ...absolutely. when you feel it's the right time...send a sign or send transport. I love you baby! We are Forever!
That was Jamerson playing Bass
And he did crush it on this track.
His sound is like no other.
The sound from his 1 finger hook is impossible to emulate.
Wilton Felder played bass on I Want You Back & The Love You Save.
Kind of late to tell you it was Babbitt on bass.
You know what?...Michael was a star all his life, he never dropped. The yes people around him, and his so called fans dropped him because they didn't understand him. What was there to understand? He was and still is the greatest entertainer that has ever lived. Michael changed the world...and that's how I want to remember him. Who today can say they do not know who Michael is? Him and his music will always be remembered, for decades and centuries to come. Michael the STAR will always be on top!!
TRUTH INDEED AMEN
Yes!!! Timeless endless Michael Jackson spreading love...he taught me to love and share
He taught me to love and share unconditionally
The best singer ever to pick up a mike! Michael Jackson!
daryl hunt. Yes Yes Yes
R I P MICHEAL
You know, when Michael died, I told my husband, the world is going to miss this guy in ways they can't even imagine. I told him that this world is getting ready to turn into a cold, cold place. They have no clue. And that's exactly what happened. I knew the influence of peace, gentleness and love that Micheal had on the world. And that's why they wanted him dead. He had way too much influence on the planet, and it was a major thorn in their plans. He helped too many poor people. He had to go.
TRUTH INDEED AMEN GOD IS IN CONTROL.
I was an MJ fan too, but you're over-reacting. He wasn't a God, and he also had a darker side.
D Me wow shows how ignorant and stupid you are I mean I truly thought Teresa would be no negative comments but u r so stupid she's not over reacting u probably know nothing about mj do u u probably only listened to his songs and I bet not even all of them or the unreleased u clearly know nothing about him coz u wouldn't say that he has a dark side that's so stupid and false research properly and u were never a fan if U say this u were obviously a fake fan
@D Me and wheres your proof of anything you said? We have proof that he helped poor people and tried to do good in the world. If you're just regurgitating the bs you've heard from a racist media about this man, then you're no better than they are.
miss T I think he just talking about his past with having sexual relations with children but idk
very underrated and probably least known/played cuts by the J5. One of my favorites that they released.
One of the best songs ever recorded by the Jackson 5!
Dwayne Dishmon my fav
That bass is SICK
Still LOVE this song as much as I did back in 1970 when we received this album as a Christmas present.
good song
love it
Conrary to popular opinion, I'm told that those are Motown LA studio musicians on the instruments. One has only to look at the sheet music of the complexities of the chord structures and I forget who the said was playing the bass. It was a well known jazz musician to give the illusion. On tour it was a different story. I'm trying to confirm everything with sources.
bad sht..........jermaine killed tha bass
None of the J5 played the instruments on the their albums, Motown didn't allow it. Gordy had bands in the studio or recorded already.
this is a great track!!
Thx for all Michael.
Michael Jackson lives forever for his humanity, love and music and will live in the hearts of his million of fans all over the world his memory will live on thru his songs forever ......
jitterbug121 YES INDEED AMEN
everyone knows that TODAY marks the third anniversary of Michael's departure. I grew up on the music of the J5 - in fact when the song ABC came out I stopped playing with dolls. I gave them all to my younger cousin and fostered an interest in music which i will hold until I breathe no more. TODAY I chose to celebrate this day by playing all my favorite Jackson music and singing along. I'm having my own little party. I love the Jacksons .I wish they would stop in Peoria or Chicago.
@jarac1357 You could know if you researched the allegations against him and read court transcripts...In which the evidence in 1993 and 2005 are in Michaels favor : )
