For newbies to Iron Maiden: Only in the very beginning of this youtube video do you see the original album artwork for this album. I bought the original Epic Records release of this CD in 1990, the year it came out, and the original artwork is just like this, with Eddie grabbing a man by the throat who is pearing into the coffin and holding a lantern. In the REVISED cover artwork you see later on, Eddie is merely reaching his hand out into the air.

They dumb down lyrics all the time but I love this song, real music is to *Revolutionary. LISTEN, just listen.....it´s Maiden all right, brilliant guitar harmonies, catchy rythms, thunderous drums and epic bass line.....what´s NOT to like ???

Unfortunately the guitar solo parts are soo poorly edited and ill constructed , that you can hear the cut and glue of the recording tape pieces.
At 2.38 there is alsoo a solo guitarpart mixed in , wich is off beat, and not synchrone with the metronome count.

The whole album is full with these ill constructed instrument tracks mixed in.
It is like the album was recorded in 4 days and edited on a drunken saturday night.

I met one of my girlfriends because of this song. I was on a heavy steel site on a college campus years ago. We were on lunch blasting music and she came over to chat and listen to some tunes. She started dancing and that was it. I was a 20 something punk stud welding floor plates and she was an ex marine with 2 tours under her belt and a nice set of hips.

And Justice for All was dry edited to death, after Ride the Lightning everyone was WTF.

In Maiden listening marathons after hearing gem-packed beauties from 1982-88 it is easy to depreciate several songs in inferior albums. For me this one is a newly discovered more-than-decent one!

I'm more country than metal. I listen to a lot of keith, brooks, alabama but still love some good music. Born in '84 and raised on the best strummers and hair bands. Even saw priest on their last tour through the USA. God bless them all. Country and metal forever!

This album as a whole might be considered by many to be their worst, but for me it's second only to Seventh Son.

As a submariner I get this song now.

I first heard this song when I was a sailor on a submarine tender. I felt like I was hearing a different song than most of the other sailors.......the subs were lethal.

Sturgeon's law - ninety percent of everything is crap. Even though No Prayer is a bad album in comparison to Maiden's better works, it is still a great album compared to music in general.

Tailgunner was weak, and Holy Smoke was average. This, No Prayer, and Mother Russia are the saving graces of the album.

@tooawesome2bereal I love Tailgunner and I get a kick out of Holy Smoke but to each their own. I deffinitley agree that this, No Prayer, and Mother Russia are the three best hands down bar none.

Michael Colby I personally enjoy Hooks In You. It's not Iron Maiden's best effort, and it's far different from their songs that make you feel like you're in the heat of battle, but there's nothing wrong with the infrequent feel-good song.

But I feel you on Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter. I don't hate it by any means, but it was my least favorite off of NPftD.

Public Enema Number One in my opinion is the only bad song on the album. Hooks In You is corny but I find it catchy lol.

Nah, Seventh Son is a great album, not their worst, but not their best like a lot of people tells, at least FOR ME. So no stones for you, my friend! I'm expecting a tour where they gonna play a lot of theirs 90s stuff. If you don't like it, don't go to the concert. It's part of their history nonetheless.

I never said SSOASS is a bad album, I love this album. It's just one of the less good Maiden albums in my opinion.
BTW, the concert was AWESOME, I was in the frot and Dave throw me his pick!!!

Yeah, I understood your point! And that makes me sure that their concerts will be completely full even if they play their 90s stuff. There are a lot of gems on No Prayer and Fear of the Dark... X Factor and Virtual as well, but much less.

If they play their 90's stuff, I will be in the first line, just like I did 3 months ago, because Maiden is a f*cking legend, and there's no bad Maiden album!!!

This album kinda holds a special place in my heart.  I was 13 years old when it came out, and promptly bought a shirt with the album cover on it.  Sometime afterward I was shot in the back by my younger brother.  The bullet past through my right shoulder blade, ricocheted off my ribs, and stop about an inch from my heart.  It was an accident...but getting a chest tube sucked.  I still have the shirt...looks so small now...and the hole in the shirt from the bullet always gets me thinking...

@BOBOUDA Haha - no, but the Maiden England tour was the last time that a lot of the 80s songs will be played live.  The next stage is to bring back more material from the 90s (No Prayer and Fear Of The Dark).  A few 80s songs like The Trooper will be staying in the set list though.

Coming hot off the coattails of Seventh Son, I can see it as weak by comparison, but that's not the way to listen to this. Open mind, and it's better than you'd initially think. Not perfect, but there's no denying Tailgunner and Mother Russia. This song ain't bad either.
