I must have been 13 years old. Just about 2 months before the release of X factor a friend of mine said, you should listen to Iron Maiden. Became a fan right away. I loved Bruce and all the material up that point. Then BOOOOOOM...X-FACTOR drops. It shook me to my inner core. 25 years later X-Factor, Seventh son of a seventh son and The number of the Beast are my favorite albums in no particular order. I have memorized all the lyrics from all the songs and still get goosebumps when I listen to each one of them. Like day one. But this song...oh my: LOOK FOR THE TRUTH??? Are you friggin kidding me?? My all-time favorite!!!

The album is great. I think if production was a little better. The album would have been more solid.

This song is awesome, but there were three main problems with this album: the production wasn't the best. Just listen how unbalanced the volumes of the intro and the rest of the song are. Also, the departure of Bruce and Adrian (1990 and 1993) which influenced a lot in the sound of the band, and lastly: most of the songs just weren't as good as previous albums. The songwriting was generally weaker, for example.

the darkest album of maiden and by far with the better lyrics.......

note to history and the truth... in fact it repeats its self as it has been done time and time again.. this world is a lot darker place then most would care to want to ever know. past plagues were not freak occurrences that manifested on there own. they were all man-made for various reasons. All of which was for the purpose of some kind of research and study on human anatomy. General studies were done on one's own people before being introduced and used on a large scale except that is for some of the ones that got out of hand on there own...

After long years, I started to listen this albuns again, and, for me is one of the best of iron. Like Sabbath with Ozzy and Dio, for me, both are very good.

Tony Martin and Ian Gillan era were great too.

The problem with this album is three fold. The production sounds like a practice in a garage. Complete crap. Lyrically it's abominable and although I think he's a nice bloke, blaze can't sing very well. At least in the confines of this kind of writing. I think this song illustrates how tuneless and to devoid of ideas Maiden had become. Pure shit

Say what you want about this album and Blaze but it was a welcome change of direction at a time when the band were becoming dated. It was never gonna live up to the 'Golden Age' of Maiden but let's be honest, the NPFTD and FOTD era, while good albums in their own right, was gonna get boring very quickly. I think the band produced something very interesting with this album and they bloody well earned the right to experiment. Also, this album pisses all over Load and Re-Load.

+Garreth Gleeson Adrian Smith leaving was clearly the issue for Maiden on all of the 90s albums.

I'm a Dickinson's fan but I consider this album to be one of the best albums of Maiden. Bayley is a very good singer and his voice fitted perfectly in this kind of songs. X Factor is different, dark, melodic. It's a pitty he has a short career in Maiden. At least we can be proud to have two great singer in a single band. Long life to Iron Maiden!

I have probably listened to this album once a month since it was released, I just love it, not my best maiden album though. blaze is blinding, the sound of this album just suits him!!

Blaze Bayley is not a bad singer. The problem is that people compare him to Bruce. Bruce Dickenson has one of the best voices in metal history. But Blaze has like ten times better voice then all of us listening to this song. I like the first slow part of this song. I don´t know what it is but I love it.....

grimlund Blaze's lower range was good for the darkness and overall feel of the album. If Bruce was still in, they would've taken a different direction. I guess after Fear Of The Duck a change was needed.

Haha, of course there was (is?) a reason: the change of vocalist, and haters did (do?) hate, although this album has some pretty nice songs.
