Iron Maiden - Invasion Lyrics
The Vikings are coming
You'd better get ready for we're having a fight
The long boats are coming
They're looking like dragons in the dead of the night
You'd better get ready to fight with your enemies
Beacons are burning
I'm giving the word to get ready to fight
The battle is nearing
You'd better get ready to fight for your lives
The Norsemen are coming
The Norsemen are coming
The warnings are given
Raping and pillaging
Robbing and looting the land
Viking raiders from afar

Iron Maiden Invasion Comments
Bands such as Paul Di'Anno's Iron Maiden and Motorhead took rock music in a whole new direction, Punkmetal/Metalpunk, call it what you want, it was (and still is) absolutely epic to listen to. With Iron Maiden you also had the superb Punkmetal artwork on the record sleeves and posters, this early line-up was very special indeed.
If Steve ever announces a reunion gig featuring Paul back again on lead vocals we'd all be fighting 'tooth and nail' to get our hands on a ticket :) .
sounds like some punk influence
Invaders is a re-writed version of this track.
Really?
@Gabriele Domingos Jardim Yes.
The mighty norsemen
It's the same main riff as Invaders from the number of the beast
...because Invaders is a rewrite of this song.
0:49 insane interlude !!!!
1.36-1.52 very similar to sanctuary
They had some great B sides. I've Got The Fire being a classic they used to play live.
Early thrash?
Maiden's Punkier Phase
The landlord's coming. You better get ready to run for your lives.
This song trully INVADED my mind... Great remembrance from my teenage years.
definitely Killers era. best maiden album of all time!
Their best B-side ever
Esta cancion tenia que estar en el primer disco de maiden
Very Punky Steve!
Absolutely punk! Because of this younger fans of Maiden don`t like so much the first 2 albums and prefer the lastest ones.
9 mtfkns dislike these!!!
The earliest and one of the best! Love this stuff!
Bad ass
Iron Lady
Who wrote this?
It's credited to Steve Harris
da hell? why wasnt this on the album
I thought Maiden were fucking excellent with Paul, my first Maiden album was Killers and its still my favourite
That last scream is sick.
Clive Burr is legend!! 😎
ROCK on!
Punkrock!Period!!And that´s not by any means bad!!
Steve Harris hates punk... This is not a punk song
Steve Harris is in denial :) This is a PUNK song and Paul was heavily into Punk.
Skyclaw, It’s definitely not a Punk song but it for sure was influenced by Punk.
guys. it doesn't matter what genre this is. IT'S ALL ROCK AND ROLL
So true!
Red dead Zed 1876 “iTs NoT rOcK aNd RoLl ItS mEtAl”
The worst is that I was part of the people that say that
Yeah¡ the new wave of british punk Hahaha I love this Maiden
good song
This goes along well with Invaders and Zeppelin's Immigrant Song.
up the irons! \m /
Vikings coming !\m/
IRON MAIDEN ERA PUNK!
The solo at 1:07 is so killing. It's so brutal and agressive. It almost sounds like a Telecaster, although it's certainly not.
that's dennis stratton on a les paul i think
THIS !! IS REAL!! MAIDEN!!!!ONE LOVE!
Love these old Paul Di'Anno recordings. Great drum intro & sound. I also love the art of these early "yellow" vinyl covers, by Derek Riggs. The 7" single "Running Free", the 7" single & 12" EP "Women In Uniform" and the 7" single & 12" EP "Sanctuary". I so prefer early Iron Maiden! Between 1978 -1981, they were punky, raw, edgy and very much a "diamond in the rough".
The 79-81 vibe of Maiden was totally different, and I love that. Bruce is incredible, but just Di'Anno can bring this early 80s soul to Maiden
So rare and perfect <3
100 percent punk
100%punk
There is no way a punk could play something that technical.
I love punk, but no. That's metal. Get your ears checked.
Also, it wasn't NWOBHP, was it?
Burr live's forever!
Brunett Mosquera no Clive Burr yet, this was Doug Sampson.
@GoodGuyChris0322 this is a studio version with Clive on drums released as a B-side to Woman in Uniform single, you can hear Doug Sampson's version on The Soundhouse Tapes
mindre begavet I know I realised this long before your comment was written.
IM en su comienzo tenia una influencia punk. Hasta tal punto que sus canciones me atrevo decir que es puro punk por lo menos en comparación con otros de su tiempo
Ahhhh old Dianno is the greatest and with his iron maiden singing
I completely forgot about this one. Boy does this bring back memories
Everyone trying to deny that Iron Maiden was heavily influenced by punk should listen to this song.
@Não Te Interessa or even "were"
@ProJirard the Finishist No, Steve Harris says they wanted to have absolutely zero punk influence. But it is true that Di'Anno brought something of a punk sensibility.
Not. This is Thin Lizzy Influences. Iron Maiden 1977-1982 are a lot ot Thin Lizzy, Ufo, or even Purple.
Problem is, music is so light on the borders. Metal, punk, and hard rock are all so similar in very subtle ways, and sometimes you end up with these genre wars where everyone argues about what genre they fit in as a band. I can definitely hear punk influence here as well as some hard rock influence too. Either way, it doesn't really matter too much.
@hellsunicorn Shredding isn't really a punk virtue, but Olga is a great guitarist. The solo in this is great.

Then you've got stuff like The Decline by NOFX which is masterful songwriting.
Should have been on the debut album
Killers
Amen to that... both this and sanctuary
@Serg 2099 Yep, on Killers.
This is one of the earliest Maiden songs. Appeared in live version on "The Soundhouse Tapes" (1979), and in the studio version as the B-side on "Women in Uniform" single (1980).
They were saving it for the number of the beast and modded it for Bruce.
The best single Maiden never released as an A-side. My brother didn't like this, thinking it sounded too much like The Sex Pistols.
a bit to fast for that
Deke DaSilva Burning ambition is a better song...
As someone who likes punk and metal, I always found the Sex Pistols to be garbage.
@Phil Collins Hill Sex Pistols is only good punk rock band in history. All other "punk" bands are pure crap without creativity and inspiration.
@97pogrebnik
The Sex Pistols are the best free-form jazz band I've ever heard
Havent heard this for fukin´ lifetimes, had the single when i was a kid.
punky maiden
the real maiden
not the heavy metal bullshit
SatanicBeerDrinker999 https://youtu.be/q8zdORt1joU
Take note and learn , you pathetic wikipedia metalhead hipster satanic retarded
Juanito Loyola Right... punk bands were known for writing 10 minute songs about The Phantom of the Opera, metal instrumentals about Genghis Khan and Julius Caesar, blistering metal songs about insane killers, ghosts, and being on the run from the law for suspected murder. Okay, so not the Pistols.... name ONE PUNK BAND like early Maiden. Same lyrical themes and musical ambition, not just DiAnno's hairstyle. I'll be waiting...
Oh and bonus points if they have extended lengthy harmony leads straight out of Judas Priest or Deep Purple. I'll be waiting... lol
Still waiting, Loyola. Shouldn't be hard to name one single band, since you're so sure you are right... 🙄
Than fuck off, dickhead. Maiden is about metal, not punk, boy.
Invasion - Iron Maiden (1981)
From B-Side Of Killers
this is a lot faster than the soundhouse tapes version. both are awesome
Damn! How the fuck wasn't this on their self titled!,it's better than Charlotte the Harlot!
Didn't Martin Birch producted the "Women In Uniform" singel? The production sonds way better than the "Iron Maiden" album!
Torkil Skorgen no! birch came in on killers to no prayer for the dying!
Torkil Skorgen: Harris is on record that he hated the production on the Iron Maiden debut album and at some point I think he'll remix and re-produce it. Personally, I love the rawness and roughness of it but it was my era of NWBHM when I was a hairy young lad.
Tony Platt
Pre invaders
Should have been released as a single instead of WIU which would have been a great B-side.
