Iris, Donnie - I Can't Hear You Lyrics
Now why you diggin' me
Why you stickin' me
You always get what you need
While I've grown deaf to you
What's really left of you
You can scream
You can be real mean but
I can't hear you no more
No more
Well, I can't hear you
No more
Yeah
You used to be so bland
You always gave me a hand
But now you're getting bold
You know it's getting old
I guess I know where you're really at
Now you just talk about your fancy friends
And all the money they can spend
They all drive Mercedes Benz
Better strap on my guitar
Gotta be a big rock star
I got it turned up to 10
So I can't hear you... no more
No more
No more
I can't hear you... no more
Baby baby baby
I can't hear you... no more baby
Aw babe I can't hear ya no more
I can't hear you... no more...
Well
Stop all your bitchin'
Back in the kitchen
You'd better straighten up
It's time that you woke up
You better learn to be sweet
'Cause you been on the rag
And all you do is nag
It means nothing to me
Cause
I can't hear you... no more
I can't hear you... no more
Baby baby baby
I can't hear you... no more no more
I can't hear you
I can't hear you
I can't hear you no more
I can't hear you
I can't hear you no more
I can't hear you

Kids lol...There was no 1980 CD release of this album, it was initially LP and cassette only. I know it was reissued on CD in 1993 in the US, not sure if that was the only one but it looks like it was the first official CD release at least.
haunting background vocals. . . . .nice touch Don.
if this guy's career happened in the 50s , Elvis would have been a mechanic.
Still love this song !!
I chucked tomatoes at him.

Sounds like a Ringo star song
I am 54 now. I saw Donnie Iris in a club on my 18th birthday! Always been a fan! This album was amazing!!
This song needs to be on rock station play lists.
Shawn P It is in Pittsburgh, Pa!
As Martha said. .
The man rules. He has the power pop, with buddy Holly vibes, thing down. First human being to do that. Before Elvis Costello's failed attempt.to fumble that shit. Epic song.
This guy in his prime, rivals anyone in rock! Pittsburgh, L.A., Honolulu, anywhere! World class!
you been on the rag, all you do is nag...Sweet!
I remember him at the Stanley theater doing this song, great intro about being downstairs
feminists heads up. 😂
Black n Gold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pittsburgh!!!
thanks for posting this- truly a very underrated album and artist
I wonder how many seeds for divorce were sown with someone hearing this in their head on some mere happen chance Thursday night.
Only reason I know and love this song isthat my dad is from outside of johnstown, Pa
This guy's songs have the greatest beginning guitar riffs in the history of rock.
You got that right. I miss that kind of music. The very early 1980s was the last gasp of the greatest rock era ever. Judging by your handle, I also think that politically Reagan's first year was the best in the postwar era. Do you agree?
Stop all your bitchin...back in the kitchen!
hahha- that line comes out of nowhere
Best Line in song.
STILL cranking up this song, especially the part of "Stop ur Bitching, Get back in the kitchen in 2019!! LOVE IT!!!
when wdve played good music
themopar426 they're only allowed to play 10 songs a day you know that. Working man by rush, copperhead road, a Tom Petty song. 103.1 KVE is the new good station
so true havent been good since jimmy and stevie
103.1 KVE plays this song a lot.
@Douglas Show my cousin works there
Thanks for posting this - I heard it only once before, in 1980, and remember the "Stop all your bitchin..." line like it was yesterday.
Probably my fav from this LP. Shouldve been DIs first hit after The Jaggerz whom he was in with my dad. :)
Your dad was one the best drummers in the business, William. His beat was like his signature, you knew it was him!
That's awesome. Donnie Iris and his band are definitely a class act! I had all the albums at 1 time
I like it! If nothing else you have to admit that Donnie's songs are well crafted and layered.
I wore this out on eight track then did the same on cassette I don't think my car would run without it
so im thinking he cant hear you...
Probably the most under-rated album of the decade, should've been the soundtrack to Fast Times at Ridgemont High
