It's very difficult to interpret the poems of Interpol, but it seems to me that this song is about a meeting between the protagonist and the spirit of a dead woman in the cemetery where she is buried. I can not decipher every single sentence, but I think that the "rendezvous" with the spirit happens with the blessing of heaven (the expression "heaven receives" is so original and moving). The woman he knew is now only an essence in the breeze, accompanying him in this emotional path. Sometimes he have the impression that the spirit gets away and then implores her to remain still there ("stay in touch"). The story is full of regret and repentance, perhaps even for not having loved her at the right moment, betrying also the trust of a third person. All this happened because his alter ego, Marauder, obeys no code, has no mercy on anyone, and is cause of grief for all the dearest affections. Only the wing of an angel can be the right remedy, and she, moved to pity, keeps this beneficial wing on him. The miracle so happened and they, finally, can look at each other's face, the true face, for the last time, in a sort of reconciliation.
This is simply what I think, but who knows if it has to do in some way with the truth of Interpol?
