Interpol - Number 10 Lyrics

Your secret's safe here
It'll never leave
It's in the basement for ya, na'mean
Won't seek replacements
My ballerina
There's many faces in my gallery

Ella, I don't know what week it's under
Ella, it gets old it gets old
Ella, teletext or you can call me
Galavanting heart
I don't know what week it's under

Your secret's safe here
It'll never leave
It's in the basement for ya

Ella, I don't know what week it's under
Ella, go and talk to Steve about it
Galavanting heart
I don't know what week it's under

Don't need replacement
Your secret's safe here

I have heard this song many times, and each time I have the impression that at the end of the song a woman's voice says in an almost imperceptible but desperate way to Ella: "I need You".

  3. k.... ....

I get the impression that Ella had to hide a body on someone's property, and they are in love with her so they keep her secret safe.

  4. g.... p....

Ella, it's too dangerous to leave a body down there too long!

  8. F.... B....

La calidad del audio es muy mala aunque la canción es grandiosa

  9. H.... ....

El problema aqui es que la produccion parece ser un error en la masterizacion y no una opcion estetica.

  10. J.... B....

What does « i don’t know what week it’s under » mean? English is not my mother tongue. I think i get the meaning but i am not sure

    I love this song!!!💕❤

  14. g.... p....

This song looks like it comes from a telephone interception between a gangster nicknamed "Ella" and her scared lover! To get rid of what's "under" maybe Steve will think.

  15. J.... F....

    Interpol un sonido único !!!!!

  16. B.... D....

Been listening to these guys since Turn on the Bright Lights and I still love them but this new album is just HARD to listen to. Too much static..... It's a shame too cause I think the songs are great.

Ok so I have been an Interpol fan since I can remember.
    Let's state the obvious.

Turn on the Bright Lights was the best thing they ever did. And Antics as well. BUT

After losing Carlos D the original bassist they basically had to change their sound. No one could copy Carlos Ds style. And you can tell that the new bass player is just a bass player.

With that said... I still like their newer music. It definitely has a different sound but it's still a kick ass sound. I will always miss Old Interpol but I guess things change.

At least they still have that raw Indie sound.

Carlos D you will be missed even though you didn't want to be in the band anymore. You really are my favorite musician. You made Turn on the bright lights ans Antics the best.

"Evil" wouldn't even be a song without His bass rift

This song reminds of TRex and The Velvet Underground with a little Rockpile thrown in. Very cool.

  41. C.... S....

I do love and have a copy. Cool you can't hear the rest on utube, but still want to

  42. J.... S....

    cuanto amo esta canción <3

  43. A.... L....

love the song (this album have his strongest lyrics ever) and understand the mixing choices but my dream is for them to work with Rob Cavallo or even Rick Rubin, or JAMES FORD who did the newest Arctic Monkeys album, that mixing and mastering was fucking immaculate. if they think that's wuss rock and want to keep the aesthetic they're going for here then they should work with sandy alex G and listen to brick off his last album

  44. W.... W....

Es mi idea o tiene un poco de Knifes Out de RadioHead?

  45. S.... B....

    Like si eres Interpolero ❤👌

  46. A.... G....

  55. S.... F....

    knives out, radiohead.

  56. J.... B....

is this one self produced like the last album? sure sounds like it fuck meeeee

  57. S.... S....

I am not some kind of audiophile but the audio quality in this is truly terrible

    S.... S....

I was wrong in thinking it was an accident

"This song was destined to be a B-side. I had written a fun surfy baseline that jived well with the drums but I was never super stoked on the song. In the studio we just recorded it because we had some time. But there was no second guitar and no vocals.

When we tracked it, it came out really explosive and fun. The additional guitars and vocals were written in a few hours over two afternoons. No fuss no muss.

The lyrics are about an office drama. The narrator is tired of his supervisor, Ella breathing down his neck. She's a tough boss. But there is also a love there, a secret attraction. A mutual secret attraction. But alas, business is business and their desire is never sated. I think that feeling of frustration and desire suits the temperment of the music. The flighty intensity. Pent up lust.

I love this song. It's the loosest, most spontaneous and unpolished track on the record, and I'm proud of its garage feel and grit."

    S.... S....

    I think its even worse

    S.... S....

distortion in terms of production =/= terrible audio quality, but I see your point

  58. c.... h....

amazing simply amazing...you guys are getting fcknh better with the years....

  59. C.... S....

Smart tune but terrible sound quality

  60. C.... P....

Are you serious? Where you recorded it? The quality is extremely low!

  61. M.... ....

    This is music

  62. t.... ....

Never knew how much I needed to hear Paul Banks say "na'mean?"

    t.... ....

    It's yummy

  63. R.... ....

I'm all for it sounding like this. A band like Interpol can suffer from today's whiter-than-white sound for effect-driven indie bands (see Thank You For The Day, the new album by Death Cab For Cutie). An early review https://www.slantmagazine.com/music/review/interpol-marauder says that the recording sessions for the album were basically live takes - on analogue recording equipment. I can definitely hear that David Fridmann was behind the controls, as it really does have that Flaming Lips drum sound. Because of this, I'm hoping that the vinyl version of this album will sound great.

  64. M.... D....

    Hm, not a big fan.
I don't know how to explain it, but newer Interpol songs always felt like there's a lot of space, it's probably a stupid explanation.
But this song on the other hand ... feels compressed and small.
Just listen to Success in comparison for example.

  65. P.... B....

If there are so many latin people here (like me) so here I go:
Interpol, vem pro Brasil pelo menos uma vez, vocês nunca vieram!

  66. B.... M....

Just gonna say it: one of the best songs they’ve ever done

  67. A.... D....

Hoping they will replace this with a less overdriven/distorted copy..

  68. P.... ....

    Fucking fantastic!

  69. A.... G....

    Interpol.!
    Interpol.!
    Interpol.!
    Vamos..!! ♥ /,,/ Te amamos Paul 🇲🇽

  70. T.... K....

"na'mean", only takes one album with RZA to get that into your vocabulary

  71. B.... ....

i swear you only get better :;)

  72. a.... m....

I like this more than rover, even though I like that song too

  73. S.... F....

Esta canción en vivo se escucha de poquísima madre, exquisita rola

  74. B.... E....

Porque se escucha tan culera la distorsión Paul? En vivo se escucha mejor que esté audio D:

  75. G.... S....

    ¡COLOMBIA TE AMA!

  76. n.... ....

Dave Fridmann worked on this? That explains the complete shit sound. He has a history of this with plenty of other albums.

  77. J.... P....

    Hace mucha falta Carlos :(

  78. g.... ....

"Ima fix Number 10" - Interpol

  79. S.... G....

    Dude this sounds like shit

  80. I.... C....

El intro suena a la guitarra de DK en Our Love to Admire y eestoy seguro que ese riff lo he escuchado al final de alguna canción pero no recuerdo cuál, los veremos este lunes 13 CDMX

  81. R.... S....

At first I wasn’t feeling this song, but my mind changed after listening to it a few more times.

  82. A.... ....

    Argentina los ama 💓

  83. R.... G....

    Vengan a colombia ¡¡¡¡

  84. n.... ....

Amazing track. Complete shit mastering, just like El Pintor had. WAAAAAAAYYYYY overly compressed and clipped to hell. C'mon guys. Get someone who knows wtf they're doing to master your albums. It's been an issue from the start and it's getting progressively worse. El Pintor was the worst to date and this sounds even worse. Such great music, once again marred by the fucking "Loudness War". Why do bands let someone take a big shit all ove their long, hard work?

  85. C.... P....

Espero la cancion oficial sea normal no de malisima calidad como esta no se aprecia bien la cancion

    C.... P....

    Checa en Spotify

  86. S.... ....

    One of the best!!!!!!

  87. E.... ....

Actually thinking about it this song is really great. Makes me hype for this album.

  88. S.... ....

El intro es hipnotico y como acaba la cancion igual

  89. N.... S....

    Perú los necesita <3

  90. V.... A....

    Isto sim ... ! É Interpol !!!

  91. M.... ....

    Magnifique ce morceau

  92. A.... D....

Only Interpol song that can make me happy

  93. V.... G....

    Sonzeeeera!!!

  94. T.... ....

All of us need peace in our life, if we do not let go of the toxic relationship we can never appreciate our self. Do not be scared to feel pain, believe me it will not be as painful as it is to love someone who doesn’t love you.

  95. N.... N....

We have a song about Stella, Ella, what's next: Bella? Lol

    N.... N....

Funny you should ask because Kirsten Stewart, who was Bella in The Twilight film, will star in the video for this song.

  96. R.... C....

    Napaka ganda, sobra.

  97. A.... C....

I actually kinda like the compression

  98. C.... ....

    mixing should be better

    C.... ....

It's probably more of a mastering issue. El Pintor sounded horrible also.
