Insomnium - Song Of The Forlorn Son Lyrics
Wretched is my lot here, mirthless is my fate
Alone to face the cruel winters, endure the dreary cold
What is there to hope for, what is there to seek
For this forsaken child, for this forlorn son
Whose lapses am I forced to undo?
So echoes my tune through these darkling shaws
Above the frozen streams resounds my song
Only these sullen trees will hearken to me
Only snow-bound hills ever hear my call
What is there to hope for, what is there to seek
For this forsaken child, for this forlorn son
For this embittered man, for this grim castaway
Solace I find in the light of the pale moon
My comfort in the night the murmur of the trees
Now I set forth without ever glancing back
It is time to make my own way through the dusk

Insomnium Song Of The Forlorn Son Comments
Absolutely amazing.
I never get enough of this track. This was a well organized piece of art
Just, My favourite Song of Insomnium
LOVE!!!!!
My favorite metal band ever and ever
Only 80K views? Bad times for music...
I knew this band in a very difficult time of my life.
I remember how in that time, I lost my job,
I had problems in my relationship; all my friends left me;
my best friend had been killed in that time.
I was going bad in college and almost everything.
These lyrics gave me a lot of strength, more than enough to get up and go on.
I'll never forget it.
This song is perfection. There is no other way to put it.
This song is pure magic.
Норм музон)
That riff at 2:17 is exactly why I love this band. Fuck.
Why does every Insomnium album have a perfect closing track
Ivan Malek one for sorrow almost did.
Because they're Insomnium.
The like, dislike ratio speaks for itself!
Out to the Sea, Lay of the Autumn, Song of the Forlorn Son. I'm done.
I may not like all their songs but I like enough to know they're a good band. Talented and imaginative. Of all their songs so far I'm entranced by the following:
Insomnium - Through The Shadows
Insomnium - while we sleep
Insomnium - down with the sun
Insomnium - the harrowing years
Insomnium - The Lay Of Autumn
Insomnium - Into The Woods
+Damien Holland
In a years time that list will be tripled.
you have to listen "one for sorrow"! for me is the best... so many feelings, emotions and omg....
At the gates of sleep - In the groves of death - In the halls of awaiting - Weather the storm - Daughter of the moon - Bereavement - The day it all came down... Endless list ;)
Check out Revelation, Track 7 off of Winters Gate, Weather The Storm, The River, and literally ANY song off of their very first album. It's fucking amazing dude.
Damien Holland try "In The Groves Of Death" and "Last Statement"
Such serene songs with very....peacefull...endings.
i dont know one person that likes insomnium and doest thing they are the best melodeath band ever made that goes to show you something
TheArmyofHades after 8 years of being a fan, i met my first ever other insomnium fan at a Meshuggah concert in Boston a few days ago.
Theres a kind of pride in the rarity, once you get used to the loneliness that comes with it.
Daniel Cannata Same here in Pittsburgh, though I've turned a few friends on to them. Insomnium filled that gap that any other band just couldn't quite reach.
I really like Insomnium, but for me the best melodeth band ever made is Be'lakor. Everyone has their own tastes though.
Beavis emoji here I love both, but I give a slight edge to Insomnium. If Be'lakor makes another album that I really enjoy, I may reconsider.
Kyle Weaver have you checked out vessels by be'lakor? It's their newer one, 2016 I think. Anyway, both bands are quite good. I also really like Kaunis Kuolematon, particularly the album Vapaus.
Insomnium never failed to produce the most beautiful metal songs ive ever heard. I dont know any scandanavian bands that can compete with them in terms of raw emotional beauty.
The end of this song though...
One of my favourite songs by them. This is way too good.
solace i find in the light of the pale moon,
what confort in the night,
the murmur of the trees
now i set forth, without any glances back,
it is time to make my own way through the dusk
some of the best lyrics ever heard
It was the first song which I heard from Insomnium, like 3 years ago. Today I'm a big fan of them and I still think that they make best music in whole world. \m/
Er mah gerd
izmir marşı
Naptın küfürbaz haydodan mı yazdın :D
"It is time to make my own way through the dusk"
Could they have ended the song better than this? I dare to think not. I mean everytime I hear it, it makes me goosebumb. It's so epic and the songs outro is just pure genius and beauty.
Insomnium is my favorite band of all time. No doubt in my mind.
Masterpiece in my opinion!!!
Estonians have more in common with the Finnish then Sweden
this is what i call music with soul, not just this song...one for sorrow, weighed down with sorrow, lay of autumn and many others...they are magicians!
always i can find a mood fitting song from these guys
However, Finland does'nt quite like us, Sweden, hehe... I can understand why, though. But some people can look pass the history and the fact that they most learn swedish in school which for some reason bothers alot of finish people...
hockey dude.. hockey..
Indeed, and another example to prove that is "The Killjoy".
Insomnium is the master of the outro, and this song is their best example of that.
It's incredible how good can be Insomnium. No one band can surpass them.
@MultiAoao
there is no words beyond that...
solace i find in the light of the pale moon,
what confort in the night, the murmur of the trees,
now i set forth without even glances back,
it is time to make my own way through the dusk....
fantastic...nothing else to say....
Playing this song on the guitar is captivating..you literally play the whole thing for hours, especially 4:05, which i think is one of the most beautiful set of notes strung together that I've ever heard.
their songs are so awesome. they surely deserve more attention
awesome song, great lyrics, and stunning instrumentals! Love the outro, it really goes with the whole mood
1:58 death metal owl?
@PaulBeauregard1979 indeed. Lord, don't punish them cuz they are in fallacy
@12NiBer12 Damn right! I hate it when people say it's druggy music, or evil satanic music.. Poor people, they just dont understand...
lol only 12k fucking views. and that probably consists of each person listening to it 50 different times over
The intro makes me think of Pantha Du Prince - Saturn strobe watch?v=NYY4AGPJJBo
And ppl say Metal is only for insane angry ppl. This prooves how metal can clearly be incredibly touching, and yet firm.
4:03 I go nuts on my guitar :D
Imo, I feel that these guys care about what goes into there music. Sure alot of the songs might have the similar melancholy feel to them but why stop doing what your good at? \m/
Absolutely breathtaking. I want to weep whenever I hear that intro. And the outro to... :'(
po re file kommatara..
Insomnium is my favourite melodic death metal band \m/
@sic172 for me is the end the saddiest... :( But its my favourite song from Insomnium... Very nice. 10/10
all their songs are so melancholic and beautiful. this song is one of them.
GTASbo0mst1ck , i totally agree with you ... they are my favourite band !!!!!!!! They are truly MELODIC - MELANCHOLIC DEATH Metal ... every single word gives a little idea about them !!!! Absolutely GREAT !!!! btw their lyrics are sooooo touching ... so poetic :P !!!!! \m/
Just awesome!
the ending always chills me to the bone
It's sad indeed. But in the end it gets a little happier.
And thats good! We don't want them to go Bodom on us!
hauntingly beautiful!!!
Perfection is in this song
The mo best song
One of the best lyrics I've ever listened, acompanied by wonderful music. What else could you want?
