Folks, I have never actually claimed this is nu metal. I said: "At first I thought...", meaning I listened to the first five seconds, thought it was just incoherent shouting and skipped to the next track. It was only after a while that I took my time to listen to the whole song, and that was when my jaw dropped to the floor in amazement, and now those "first five seconds" are a vital part of the piece of art called "Vacuum". "Don't judge anything by it's first appearance" is the moral of it all.

This is Melodic Metal-core if you wanted to be a technical genre fag.

Their older stuff was Melodic Death Metal and paved the way for many other bands.
But like all great musicians, they broaden their horizons and develop/experiment with other styles/genres -- which they seem to have done great with this.

I often hear people that say that Metal of all kinds aren't music, it's just a bunch of guys that take an instrument att give what they have on it while some random dude is screaming in the microphone.

Boy, do I want to hit them with a rock.
Every other sort of music is just rubbish.
In Metal and all other sorts of Metal are the only genre that the band-members are skilled with the instrument, and the signer know how to growl and sing clean.

They managed to get it feelin' really oldschool with the guitar solo and everything, plus the lyrics are freakyish and I love the first fifty-seconds, speed for the win.

At first I thought this song was the the most terrible piece of nu metal shit I had ever heard, but once I listened it to the final note, I realized how brilliantly composed it actually was.
If Dream Theater had done "Vacuum", it would have lasted 25+ minutes, but In Flames managed to fit a whole spectrum of emotions in less than four minutes. (It´s a fantastic song, and it´s absolutely heavenly if you listen to it while "under the influence"... :D)
