I agree that there's a line which can be drawn between Bach and Metallica, but the line gets much more blurred at Slipknot. Once again, we can all agree that green isn't red, but where can we draw the line between red and orange? And the "contradictions" you found result from your absolute lack of understanding, not his.

So even if I were wrong about "opinions not being able to trump facts" (which I'm not), you're implying that if a certain number of people share my perspective on this, then we must be correct. Currently there is no clear-cut system to objectively deduct what genre a band belongs to, which makes it, currently, subjective.

If there is a widely accepted system out there, please show us.

You continually state that music genres are not subjective, and that there is a clear line that seperates bands from different genres.
All you have to do to prove this, is provide an actual definition by which we can divide these bands, from a source of authority.

Until you absolutely prove that it exists (and is legitimate), I'm still winning the argument - that there is no way to clearly define ANY music genre. My proof: our disagreement. In your definition, Slipknot isn't metal. In mine, Slipknot is metal. Obviously, the definitions are different. Back to the color wheel: you call something orange while I call it red. Is there a definitive line? No.

@calmsnowfall Cool. Once again, there is no way to objectively judge music as you are doing right now. Bands like Slipknot use the same instruments, the same styles as others. The line between nu-metal and "real" metal is exceedingly fine, and much of Slipknot's work is qualitatively indistinguishable from Slayer or Megadeth. You have absolutely failed to prove anything you said about Nu Metal bands incorporating other genres, and even if you did, that still doesn't prove that it's not metal.
